If you spot any goofs here, that’s because it’s very hard to blog while being repeatedly called out to fetch a winch or inspect a termite infestation.

A very short game of fetch

That’s Little Bear, who’s never chased a stick in his entire life – but who might dislocate your shoulder going after a squirrel.

jc2k — I hadn’t heard about that even though it seems to have happened a couple of months ago. Good for that jury! It’s too bad that taxpayers, rather than the violent cop individually, will have to pay.

Still, a few more judgments like that and jurisdictions will have to start either training cops to deal properly with dogs or hiring cops that are better human beings.

A few years ago a friend of mine tried to join the police force. She’s intelligent, a professional body-builder, trained in 3 different martial arts, owns dogs, has passed federal background checks on more than one occasion, and has the air of authority to corral her 3 rambunctious boys with just a word.

    They wouldn’t let her in.

Another person I know was rejected because his scores were too high and blew the curve.

I don’t know what the entrance exams are screening for, but it’s not skill, aptitude, or decency. That’s for sure.

Was I the only one hoping that the AI forging article was going to be about blacksmithing?
