With the veritable plethora* of scandals abounding now in Obama’s DC, it’s fun wondering which will become the Scandal du Jour — that is, the one that’ll last more than a week.
No, the scandal that lasts won’t be the horrendous treatment of prisoners in Gitmo or the slaughter of children via drones. Though both are outrages of war-crime proportions, those are just the usual ho-hummers. No doubt most Americans wish more furrin’ kids would be blown to smithereens and would rejoice if everybody in Gitmo were waterboarded six times a day.
Will the lasting scandal be Benghazi? Probably not. Too “Fox-ish” to grow any real media legs. The best we can hope for from that one is that it’ll keep Hillary out of the White House in 2016.
A lot of people are betting that the Justice (sic) Department’s secret wholesale seizure of AP’s phone records will be The One. Goring the media’s ox does tend to be a really, really bad idea — but that’s usually done only by Republicans. It’ll be fun to watch the MSM twist itself into a pretzel. (“How can we kiss Obama’s butt at the same time we’re screaming in his face that he’s raping the Bill of Rights?”)
My personal favorite Scandal of the Week, though, is the IRS targeting “patriot” and “tea party” non-profits with wink, wink, nod, nod no political intent. Sure, that’s also probably too Foxy for the MSM to care about. (Because nobody has yet noticed any group with “Progressive” in its name going under extra IRS scrutiny.)
But you know, it’s been a long, loooong time since we’ve watched the IRS get kicked around. And heaven knows it deserves it, based on its lifelong status as a political tool alone. (Beyond that, we could count the ways …)
So I’m rooting for that one to become the next Whatevergate. How about you?

* I’ve always wanted an excuse to say veritable plethora about something; finally got my chance.
The direction this investigation will go was already being established at the beginning. The quote by Holder yesterday stated (as in the article below): “Reports of being singled out for scrutiny are “outrageous and unacceptable, if not criminal,” he said.”
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/holder-blasts-irs-scandal-defends-ap-record-seizure-article-1.1343799
In every MSM article this a.m. the last phrase, “if not criminal” has been dropped. (Even Reuters, who mentioned the phrase, has taken it out of quotes.) I’m sure no criminal activity will be found. I’m equally sure that dropping the phrase was deliberate, so as not to sound like “innocence” was implied before the investigation began.
Right, the IRS thing is too “Foxish” (good way of putting it).
MSM are such lapdogs I don’t think it’s possible any more to have something like Watergate going on. Outside of the latest gun grabbing attempts, does anybody even care at all about what has Congress in a churn?
Maybe it’s just me, as I don’t care any more. A conservative friend tried to get me worked up over Benghazi. I just smiled.
What’s next? Thursday.
The bureaucrats at the IRS certainly deserve their own scandal at the very least – they work so hard and get so little recognition. But the MSM still has some remnant of its power, and you can’t have a full-blown scandal if they won’t play. Look how long Fast and Furious smoldered underground before it showed up on the surface of their reporting, to the small extent it did. With Big News so firmly in the administration’s pocket, we can expect them to sit as quietly on the IRS thing as possible. So IRS, like Benghazi, is likely to remain in tin-foil-hat territory.
But Justice vacuuming up AP phone records? Now you’re screwing with that which should not be screwed! (with.) So the AP story is my candidate for Obama’s Watergate. If, that is, any of the stories ever go full-scandal, which they still might not.
I’m not quite as serene about this. To many Libertarians and conservatives this appears like some kind of great victory, but is it? For instance, why would the tyrannical minions of the Regime even bother trying to secretly get this information on the AP? If they asked any of the progressives at AP for this information they’d gladly hand it over for a chance to orally service Obama and his minions. So why did the Regime even bother going after this info, and (an equally interesting question) How did this all come to light? I’m guessing this has more to do with giving “members” of the press some cover. Not one “whistle blower” in any of the administrations shenanigans has managed to remain secret. He’s always punished before he even testifies. Revelations of DOJ spying on AP (who like to dress up and play “reporter”) can now look innocent in all this. AP in particular regards going to the White House Press Office for clarification on news stories as investigative journalism. MSNBC would be embarrassed at some of the stuff they write. Who believes for one second that any “reporter” at the AP would not tell all to the regime for a chance to spend one second with Dear Leader? Anyone suggesting that this illegality be prosecuted is being called partisan. After all, according to Holder this was just a silly school boy misjudgment by lower level operatives in the Regime. “Tyranny? I don’t see no tryanny!”
I’m betting on the NEXT one still…
the Faux Terror Attack False Flag that’s comin’ to distract the Wastestream from these.
It’ll need to involve kids (older’n 3, but under 12) with puppies. And it’ll hafta happen in a disarmed killing field. And if they blame a chunky white guy or two with Ron Paul or Alex Jones bumper stickers on the getaway car…we’ll all know.
The next (and ONLY) Scandalgate that could really matter would be the one AFTER that:
IFF the media ever actually figures out that it would’ve been a setup.
I noted Jim Bovard addresses the history of IRS political shenanigans in today’s Wall St. Journal. :applause:
http://jimbovard.com/blog/2013/05/14/my-wall-st-jrn-op-ed-irs-political-targeting-since-fdr/
The only scandal that we can stick to higher ups is Benghazi. The heat was turned up and the press started to pay attention. Hoe convenient that the IRS targeting the Tea Party came to light out of no where. Foul! Foul! The Tea Party screamed and the media began to look away from Benghazi, but it kept a wary eye on it. Oh, how shall we distract the media. I know, let’s let them concentrate on how the Justice Department tapped their phones. That should piss them off enough to take all of their eyes off of Benghazi.
While the media goes on a wild goose chase after the IRS and the Justice Department Benghazi will slip into the background and that ids the one that could hurt Obama. The other two will be passed off to low level staffers that may or may not lose their jobs. And if the media gets bored with those two scandals and turns their attention once again to Benghazi out of the hat will pop up another scandal. Perhaps new information on Fast and Furious will come out.
“…it’ll keep Hillary out of the White House in 2016.”
But I *want* Hillary in the White House when it all comes tumbling down. Who more fitting?
The scandal might be collusion with be media to keep certain things out of the media. Another possibility is selling access to the whitehouse and President.
Names: How about Husseingate, Holdergate, and How-we-can-trust-the-IRS-gate? Seriously, do you really think that anyone will lose a job or pension over any of this? I am thoroughly disgusted over what is happening. Whatever happened to my country? Oh, wait, it’s Bush’s fault.
I’m with Paul. I wonder if I care any more.
The up front mainstream considerations on issues like this one are relatively unimportant, in my opinion. Go to http://www.nomorefakenews.com/ and read 2 articles by Jon Rappoport. First, read the 2nd one “….Nazis, Nixon, Watergate, & Rockefeller”. THEN read the 1st one “…..Who is Suddenly Telling Liberal Jackals to Attack Obama?”
I think this covers it pretty well. What will happen is what the big boys want to happen, regardless of what the media or anyone else has to say about it.
Keep up the good work, Claire……..Go, Girl!!!
Scandals?
It’s more like a crime wave.
