  • Happy Paratus! Commander Zero, who invented this holiday for preparedness, has celebration suggestions.
  • That mysterious observatory closure? They claim it’s because a janitor had kiddie porn on a computer. Hm.
  • Sheesh. No wonder Kavanaugh’s accuser can’t remember any details. Given the party-and-pickup culture of the pricey school she went to, it’s a wonder she can remember anything from her teens.
  • Cody Wilson has been arrested in a country that has no extradition treaty with the U.S. and is being sent back to Texas. I suspect we’ll hear that the bust was based on the technicality of Wilson attempting to overstay his visa or some such. (H/T Jim B. in comments)
  • He spent 27 years in prison for a murder he didn’t commit. The case for his innocence was spearheaded by a golf magazine.
  • China’s social credit system is not only every bit as chilling as our worst imaginings, but what do Chinese authorities imagine is going to become of all those “unpersons” they’re creating? (Via Wendy McElroy)
  • In Venezuela, the politically powerful feast while the peasants starve.
  • Funny how the tech gurus who are deliberately manipulating the rest of us deny tech to their children or rigorously monitor its use.
  • Two guys prank McDonalds. McDonalds rewards them.
  • The other day I was looking at buying some prep foods in #2.5 cans and I ran into this guide from Survival Mom on when to go big and when to go small. I don’t agree with all her conclusions, but this is good (pardon the pun) food for thought.
  • Militant Normals by Kurt Schlichter. Looks like an interesting book for all us “deplorables” and “dregs of society.” (Now in pre-order.)
  • Octopi are very different than humans — in obvious ways and not so obvious ways (like the distributed structure of their brains). But give them MDMA — ecstasy — and they want hugs just like we do.

Cheers.

Good investigating, Bear. Thanks for looking into it. Weird — and hinky — business altogether.

Cody Wilson, man. My take, and this is based on nothing more than knowing, more personally than I care to admit, how stupidly young men with some rep and some money can act is that, yeah he hooked up with the girl, but did not know she was under age. He also did not bother to check. Or if he did she had fake ID.

In today’s world it could have gone down this way: Some one figures out that Wilson is hanging out on this site looking for sex, sets him up. Real easy. OR. Wilson is doing his normal, hanging out on the site looking for sex, girl hooks up with him, finds out who he is, decides this is her shot at fame/wealth/whatever, turns him in.

Personally I feel (once again based on no evidence what so ever) that it is the former.

However, in both cases Wilson was an idiot and there is an expression which applies. It refers to which head he was thinking with.

    A real shame.

But his good work will live on. Others already have picked up on it and will carry it forward.

I’ll be celebrating Paratus watching “Night of the Comet.” Cheesy, cheerleaders-v-evil-scientists plot, but it has Catherine Mary Stewart saying, “Come on Hector, the MAC-10 submachine gun was practically designed for housewives.”

Thank you for mentioning Kurt Schlichter’s newest book. I have two other books by him and when the newest one comes out in soft cover I will purchase it.

Agree with you, Jorge. Wilson was just plain stupid, which is a surprise given how clever he seems to have been all along. But that other head doesn’t have a very big brain…

The laws on this subject are incredibly stacked against men. (Although I suppose it arguably would apply to women as well, but there is a double standard here…) I know two guys who are registered sex offenders. One was a doctor who got involved with his baby sitter, who had told him she was of legal age. Wrong move for a married man to begin with and generally a stupid move and he has paid in spades for it but should he have run a background check?

The other was a young man who was a minor when he and his girlfriend got involved sexually, but after he became an adult, the parents apparently had charges brought against him and it was off to jail and a much more dead-end life. One day it was legal, the next it was a felony. And a teenage boy is supposed to be mature enough to handle that?

Curious thing about that Cult of the 1st Amendment blog. It looks as if it was just created, has only one post, no named author or about information. Does anyone know anything more about the creator of this?

Oh no, another massacre. Here comes more gun control laws.

    https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/Queens-Flushing-Daycare-Center-Stabbing-NYPD-493925451.html

Oh wait, it was done with just knives and a cleaver, and by a woman. Never mind, nothing to see here, move along, move along. There won’t be a big huballu, since no guns were involved and it was done by a woman.

There may be some knife control laws, but I don’t think so. It sounds like it was just kitchen knives were involved.

larryarnold, I’m for the cheerleaders but don’t tell me how it turns out I might watch it myself.

tech gurus deny tech to their children
Margarine? I did some work at the plant in Baltimore (yes, it’s exactly what you’re thinking or worse) where all the brands are made and the safety brief included warnings not to touch any of the ingredients as they are flammable and poisonous. I can assure you, they all eat butter.

The McDonalds poster isn’t bad. Maybe marketing is in their future.

Who thinks, Hey, let’s dose some Octopuses up on X and see if they like it? I’ve seen one, not on MDMA I presume. It was clinging to the side of a ship. This was smaller than I would have thought one to be but then again, I didn’t really know what to expect let alone that I would ever see one in the wild.

While I had forgotten all about Paratus, Mother Nature didn’t. Thanks to a nasty storm and high winds our power went out around 4 this afternoon and didn’t come back on until just before midnight. Well at least I know that the short term preps work….

About the Solar Observatory… I call BS.

Thanks for posting the story from the Survival Mom. It’s given me a little pause to go look at the stuff I have hidden away. Which I shall do, the first chance I get. Honest…

“OCFS is saddened by this horrific situation and investigating it as a possible illegal operation,” the statement said.
So, bleeding heart, but statest to the end.
