(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ted.com\/talks\/hasan_elahi.html\" target=\"_blank\">Video of him giving a talk about it<\/a>.) (Tip o&#8217; hat to MJR)\n<li>This is <i>such<\/i> a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/magazine-18327493\" target=\"_blank\">cool, clever, innovative idea<\/a>. Wonder how long before the feds hit it with a drone strike? (H\/T C^2)\n<li>Sharp-eyed Kent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/articles\/arts\/movies\/2012\/06\/safety_not_guaranteed_starring_aubrey_plaza_reviewed_.html\" target=\"_blank\">spotted this review<\/a> of <i>Safety Not Guaranteed<\/i>, the movie inspired by the classified ad written by our own John Silveira. The film was a smash at Sundance, is just coming into theaters, and currently stands at an impressive <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/safety_not_guaranteed\/\" target=\"_blank\">91% positive on RottenTomatoes.com<\/a>.\n<li>Microsoft and Google <a href=\"http:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2012\/06\/07\/technology\/do-not-track\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">play chicken over Do Not Track<\/a>. With MS on the side of the angels this time. (H\/T PT)\n<li>Some of us have been saying for decades that if the government wants our money it can just hold a bake sale. Supporters of NASA have <a href=\"http:\/\/slatest.slate.com\/posts\/2012\/06\/08\/nasa_bake_sale_scientists_students_to_stage_bake_sale_to_protest_proposed_budget_cuts_.html\" target=\"_blank\">finally taken our suggestion<\/a>. Not that they really mean it or anything.\n<li>Damn, damn, damn. The best radio show in the universe (no offense, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brianwilson.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Brian Wilson<\/a> and the various podcasters hereabouts) <a href=\"http:\/\/slatest.slate.com\/posts\/2012\/06\/08\/tom_and_ray_magliozzi_s_car_talk_stops_producing_new_episodes_in_september_.html\" target=\"_blank\">is going to cease production<\/a>.\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2012\/06\/10\/us\/cartels-columbus-new-mexico\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Guns, corruption, and the drug war<\/a> on the U.S. border. Although the middle of this article reads as if the Obama admin is trying to bury Fast &#038; Furious in a hail of &#8220;everybody else is doing it&#8221; accusations (and uses that irritating term &#8220;botched sting&#8221; for an operation that was &#8220;botched&#8221; only in that the ATF was caught by Mike Vanderboegh, David Codrea, and other astute watchers), it&#8217;s a pretty good picture of the havoc wrought on one small town by drug prohibition and the violence it&#8217;s spawned.\n<li>Finally, <a href=\"http:\/\/theoatmeal.com\/blog\/fix_computer\" target=\"_blank\">here&#8217;s a bitter truth<\/a> to have a good laugh over: &#8220;How to Fix Any Computer.&#8221; (Thank you, S)\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When an American artist came under unjust scrutiny from the feds, he conceived a modern variation of the old &#8220;over-compliance&#8221; trick originated by 1960s draft protestors.
