Too much heaviness this week (though you guys gave even better than usual comments on my last rant, thank you; I hope everyone will read them<\/a>). <\/p>\n

Time for the better side of the world. Which means dogs.<\/p>\n

The first story isn’t a happy one. Far as you can get from happy. Unconscionable bastard careens down a residential street at 80 mph, plows through a stop sign, then smashes into a young couple walking four Australian cattle dogs. All four dogs dead. Young man’s leg torn off. Young woman hospitalized. Bastard drives off without stopping. No, as far from happy as it gets<\/p>\n

Yet a man a lot of people might have scorned becomes a hero<\/a>. And at least they finally caught the miscreant<\/a>. Who turns out to be exactly the sort of person you’d expect. May he get exactly<\/i> what he deserves. No more no less.<\/p>\n

Second story: Credit where it’s due. A policeman averts a puppycide<\/a>. In the best possible way. (Tip o’ hat to the wonderful Maggie McNeill, The Honest Courtesan<\/a>, best of Radley Balko’s guest bloggers.)<\/p>\n
