(Tip o&#8217; hat to RLW)\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/is-there-a-vampire-in-serbia-2012-12\" target=\"_blank\">Is there a vampire on the loose?<\/a> (Or merely a clever tourism scheme?)\n<li>Did you see anything in the MSM about pennies and nickels <a href=\"http:\/\/lewrockwell.com\/spl4\/dollar-decline-catches-up-to-us-mint.html\" target=\"_blank\">being phased out next year<\/a>? (ADDED: Nevermind. It&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/ClaireWolfe\/2012\/12\/03\/monday-links-11\/comment-page-1\/#comment-22324\" target=\"_blank\">a hoax<\/a>.)\n<li>Anybody here ever drink a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thekitchn.com\/recipe-ginger-switchel-154517\" target=\"_blank\">switchel<\/a>? I&#8217;d never heard of it until I ran into the term in the fascinatingly eccentric little book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0195029909\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=0195029909&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=livifree07-20\" target=\"_blank\"><i>The Alcoholic Republic: An American Tradition<\/i><\/a> (thanks for the recommend, JG). Apparently at one time the switchel was recommended to help wean Americans off their boundless alcohol consumption.\n<li>Since a code-breaking story went over so well last week, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chron.com\/news\/science\/article\/Code-used-by-RI-founding-father-is-finally-cracked-4081262.php\" target=\"_blank\">here&#8217;s another<\/a>. This one involves Roger Williams, one of the best and most underappreciated (except by Rhode Islanders) early Americans.\n<li>Finally, for your Monday morning work avoidance, here&#8217;s a bizarre bit of history involving <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2012\/12\/02\/better_than_bourne_who_really_killed_nick_deak\/\" target=\"_blank\">the CIA, a bag lady, an assassination, and &#8220;the James Bond of money.&#8221;<\/a> Weird, weird things &#8220;our&#8221; government gets up to.\n<\/ul>\n<p>And what the heck, why not throw in a dog?<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/xxM2FfU0SE4\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>(Also H\/T JB)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Obamacare future is nigh.
