Oh yeah, that&#8217;s right. By <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2013\/07\/07\/%E2%80%9Cwhy_did_you_shoot_me_i_was_reading_a_book_the_new_warrior_cop_is_out_of_control\/\" target=\"_blank\">SWATting our poker games<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/dollarvigilante.com\/blog\/2013\/7\/1\/governments-spirit-crushing-hatred-of-lemonade.html\" target=\"_blank\">busting our kids&#8217; lemonade stands<\/a>.)\n<li>Nostalgia has never been my thing. Those &#8220;good old days&#8221;? They weren&#8217;t really so good. Turns out, though, that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/07\/09\/science\/what-is-nostalgia-good-for-quite-a-bit-research-shows.html\" target=\"_blank\">nostalgia&#8217;s actually good for you<\/a>.\n<li>Awwwwww. <a href=\"http:\/\/halopets.com\/freekibble\/donation109.html\" target=\"_blank\">Blind couple fall in love<\/a> after their guide dogs do.\n<li>It&#8217;s a crappy law and just more permit pushing. But <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pagunblog.com\/2013\/07\/09\/quinns-veto-overridden\/\" target=\"_blank\">both houses of the Illinois legislature hugely overrode<\/a> Gov. Pat Quinn&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2013\/07\/02\/illinois-concealed-carry_n_3535093.html\" target=\"_blank\">weird attempt to use his veto to rewrite<\/a> the bill they&#8217;d passed. What makes this grand despite its flaws is that there is now <i>no state in the union<\/i> that completely forbids concealed carry. Sure, they&#8217;ll still do their best to obstruct it. But that&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/ClaireWolfe\/2013\/07\/03\/what-governments-are-foran-independence-day-peregrination\/\" target=\"_blank\">what governments are for<\/a> &#8212; get in a man&#8217;s way.\n<li>And of course for every grudging Illinois, <a href=\"http:\/\/kygl.com\/arkansas-to-become-a-constitutional-carry-state-in-july-2013\/\" target=\"_blank\">there is an Arkansas<\/a>, thanks to the hard, steady work of the real grassroots.\n<li>I&#8217;ve been saving this one up for a couple of weeks, hoping to do something more with it. Not getting there, so here you go. &#8220;The debate over the U.S. government\u2019s monitoring of digital communications suggests that Americans are willing to allow it as long as it is genuinely targeted at terrorists. What they fail to realize is that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2013-06-23\/u-s-surveillance-is-not-aimed-at-terrorists.html\" target=\"_blank\">the surveillance systems are best suited for gathering information on law-abiding citizens.&#8221;<\/a>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Time to train cops not to shoot dogs.
