MrColionNoir recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/results?search_query=mrcolionnoir+nra&#038;oq=MrColionNoir+nra&#038;gs_l=youtube.1.4.0l9.112638.119030.0.123362.16.11.0.5.5.2.4644.7539.0j4j5j7-1j0j1.11.0...0.0...1ac.1.11.youtube.gTZB3NXhP_Y\" target=\"_blank\">teamed up with the NRA<\/a> for a series of videos. This has led some on the other side to <a href=\"http:\/\/monderno.com\/monderno\/the-nras-racial-history\/\" target=\"_blank\">get sniffy abut the NRA&#8217;s alleged history of racism<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This cry of &#8220;racist!&#8221; and &#8220;pandering!&#8221; is being made mostly by people who identify as Democrats. So my question is, how can they be so upset over NRA racism &#8212; while turning a blind eye to the fact that <i>their<\/i> organization <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wnd.com\/2008\/08\/73330\/\" target=\"_blank\">was the party of slavery<\/a>, the party that <a href=\"https:\/\/realdemocrathistory.wordpress.com\/category\/kkk\/\" target=\"_blank\">founded the KKK, wrote the Jim Crow laws<\/a>, and opposed anti-lynching efforts? Even into modern times the Dems were the party that <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stand_in_the_Schoolhouse_Door\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;stood in the schoolhouse door&#8221;<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.georgiaencyclopedia.org\/nge\/Article.jsp?id=h-1387\" target=\"_blank\">party of the axe handles<\/a>. Sure, by the 1960s some Dems belatedly took the side of blacks, although they did it with the insulting <a href=\"http:\/\/historymatters.gmu.edu\/d\/6546\/\" target=\"_blank\">intent of &#8220;managing&#8221; black populations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Heck, credible sources note that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.humanevents.com\/2006\/08\/16\/why-martin-luther-king-was-republican\/\" target=\"_blank\">Martin Luther King was a Republican<\/a>, as were most blacks of his day because of the longstanding oppression they&#8217;d suffered at the hands of the Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>I still say a pox on both R and D houses, of course. And on the ever-compromising NRA (despite actually behaving like a gun-rights group <i>this year<\/i>). But if any taint of racism, ever, is sufficient to discredit any organization in the eyes of the NRA sniffers, how can they possibly justify being Dems?<\/p>\n<p>Okay, it&#8217;s a rhetorical question. We all know how they do it &#8212; by maintaining a double standard. Or choosing to ignore those parts of history they find inconvenient.
