But I think it&#8217;s worth a second read. Or a third: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/crash-is-dead-ahead-sell-get-liquid-now-2010-05-25\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Warning: Crash dead ahead. Sell. Get liquid. Now.&#8221;<\/a> Paul B. Ferrell. I know that much doom-gloom needs to be taken with a healthy sprinkling of salt. But you do gotta wonder when we&#8217;re finally going to teeter over this brink we&#8217;ve been wobbling on.\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesonline.co.uk\/tol\/comment\/columnists\/guest_contributors\/article7139363.ece#cid=OTC-RSS&#038;attr=2270657\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;The part of me the Watchers couldn&#8217;t see.&#8221;<\/a> Encouraging.\n<li>And apropos of nothing except a coincidence of wording (and some evils of government), I&#8217;m currently re-reading one of my favorite Dean Koontz novels, called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0425221806?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=livifree07-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=0425221806\" target=\"_blank\"><i>Watchers.<\/i><\/a> Dogs. Triumph of human (and canine) spirit. Hair-raising adventure. And even a terrifying (yet ultimately almost sympathetic) monster. What&#8217;s not to like? I was never a fan of Koontz&#8217;s early stuff. But since I stumbled onto his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0553582895?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=livifree07-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=0553582895\" target=\"_blank\"><i>Dark Rivers of the Heart<\/i><\/a> back in the &#8217;90s &#8212; with its eloquent and outraged description of government abuses of the Randy Weaver family (wrapped up in a gripping thriller of a story, not to mention another dog on the run with its humans from a murderous Orwellian government agency) &#8212; I&#8217;ve been hooked.\n<li>And apropos of too very sadly much: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1594202451?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=livifree07-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=1594202451\">The <i>The Watchers: The Rise of America&#8217;s Surveillance State<\/i><\/a> by Shane Harris. It&#8217;s a good, balanced read about how we got where we are. Yes, the last three links in this blog entry all go to Amazon.com. Buy stuff if you&#8217;re so moved. It helps keep my puppies in kibble. \ud83d\ude42 I bleg to blog. But I really do have to stop reading so many things with &#8220;watchers&#8221; in the title. Keeps me awake at night.\n<li>It might be easy to dismiss <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/2010\/05\/28\/michigan-considers-law-license-journalists\/?test=latestnews\" target=\"_blank\">this idiot legislator<\/a> as an idiot legislator. But the government really does aim to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/the-government-is-preparing-to-bail-out-newspapers-and-kill-blogs-2010-5\" target=\"_blank\">prop up those &#8220;journalists&#8221;<\/a> who do its bidding most faithfully. Yes, indeedy: \u201cLegitimate media sources are critically important to our government.&#8221; We know just <i>how<\/i> critical. And how &#8220;legitimate.&#8221;\n<li>But then, the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pantisocracy\" target=\"_blank\">idiots have always been with us<\/a>, even if back in the olden days you had to be a poet to really rise to the ranks of Damnfools.\n<li>And yes, the more researchers look, the more links they find <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/releases\/2010\/05\/100518064610.htm\" target=\"_blank\">between creativity and insanity<\/a>. It&#8217;s just that creative people organize the weirdness more effectively. If you follow that link and you have some time, check out the related stories in the sidebar.
