Some contain news that fills me with such loathing I can&#8217;t decide whether to blog about it or run for cover. I&#8217;ll avoid the most loathsome for now and merely blog the good, the bad, the indifferent, and the funny to clear my browser and my head.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The NSA <a href=\"http:\/\/news.cnet.com\/8301-13578_3-57602701-38\/nsa-disguised-itself-as-google-to-spy-say-reports\/\" target=\"_blank\">disguised itself as Google<\/a> to enable even more spying. Part of me says this is bad in the same sense that the CIA&#8217;s longstanding practice of disguising its agents as journalists is bad (for the health of actual journalists). Part of me sez, &#8220;Hey. Wait. You mean somebody still thinks Google <i>isn&#8217;t<\/i> the NSA?&#8221;\n<li>BTW, <a href=\"http:\/\/business.time.com\/2013\/09\/13\/why-google-may-owe-you-money\/\" target=\"_blank\">Google may owe you money<\/a>.\n<li>Beer goggles. They&#8217;re apparently two-way. So sez some of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/science-environment-24061992\" target=\"_blank\">latest Ig Nobel Prize-winning research<\/a>.\n<li>Bravo, Adaptive Curmudgeon! He finds <a href=\"https:\/\/adaptivecurmudgeon.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/09\/think-youve-got-a-shitty-job-think-again-part-ii\/\" target=\"_blank\">the guy with the world&#8217;s worst job<\/a> (hint: it involves writing government memos). You&#8217;ll be very unsurprised to learn that you&#8217;re <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/kashmirhill\/2013\/09\/12\/e-zpasses-get-read-all-over-new-york-not-just-at-toll-booths\/\" target=\"_blank\">not solely being tracked at tollbooths<\/a>. Article applies only to NYC, but was sent by S, who&#8217;s pretty sure the same thing&#8217;s happening where he is, also. Convenience. Why do we expect we&#8217;ll never be made to pay &#8212; and pay and pay &#8212; for it?\n<li>Oh goodie. Our Masters now want to decide <a href=\"http:\/\/www.examiner.com\/article\/senate-panel-brings-federal-law-one-step-closer-to-kneecapping-bloggers\" target=\"_blank\">who&#8217;s an authorized journalist<\/a> and who isn&#8217;t. If this goes anywhere, those without a federal stamp of approval would not be entitled to First Amendment freedom-of-the-press protections. Hm. We&#8217;ll see about that &#8230;\n<li>News of the weird: Did the Vatican <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/articles\/life\/faithbased\/2006\/12\/fore_shame.single.html\" target=\"_blank\">steal Jesus&#8217;s<\/a> &#8230; um, body part?\n<\/ul>\n<p>Oh well, gotta laugh about it all.
