(Tip o&#8217; hat to MLS)\n<li>Federal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bussjaeger.org\/index.html#rushmore-cones\" target=\"_blank\">theater of the absurd<\/a>. (I also agree with Carl that the Crazy Horse monument is <i>so<\/i> superior to Mt. Rushmore in every way that even <i>after<\/i> the silly feddies remove the barriers I&#8217;d still just drive on past and watch free enterprise at work a few miles down the road.)\n<li>Erm &#8230; I don&#8217;t usually read <i>Glamour<\/i>. But I found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glamour.com\/weddings\/blogs\/save-the-date\/2013\/10\/todays-batsht-crazy-bride-does.html\" target=\"_blank\">this heartfelt smackdown<\/a> of a money-hungry bride on a forum I frequent. Even as a young girl, I hated the notion of weddings; these days when they&#8217;ve become big excuses to put families into debt while the couple collects big cash gifts, this response from a guest is a touch of sanity.\n<li>Here&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/mag.newsweek.com\/2013\/10\/04\/the-woman-who-knows-the-nsa-s-secrets.html\" target=\"_blank\">another &#8220;non-journalist<\/a> who wouldn&#8217;t be entitled to First Amendment freedom-of-press protections if TPTB have their way.\n<li>You may have heard that the dollar ain&#8217;t worth sh*t these days. <a href=\"http:\/\/helenair.com\/news\/local\/us-treasury-reimburses-helenan-after-pet-s-expensive-snack\/article_717856e4-2b2a-11e3-9029-0019bb2963f4.html\" target=\"_blank\">Well &#8230;.<\/a>\n<li>You don&#8217;t always <a href=\"http:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/fencing-coach-foils-robbery-with-sword\/-\/1736084\/22197890\/-\/b5nd95z\/-\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">need a gun<\/a> to foil bad guys. \ud83d\ude42\n<li>Although this is last month&#8217;s news, it&#8217;s still very good. The state of Jefferson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redding.com\/news\/2013\/sep\/24\/modoc-county-joins-siskiyou-bid-secession\/\" target=\"_blank\">is on its way back from the dead<\/a>.\n<li>And finally, here are three from the Commentariat: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/blogs\/future_tense\/2013\/09\/20\/how_to_tell_your_mother_and_bosses_why_they_should_protest_surveillance.html?wpisrc=obinsite\" target=\"_blank\">How to tell your mother and your boss<\/a> why they should object to the surveillance state; Choosing the gun that&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/bisonrma.blogspot.com\/2012\/09\/choosing-right-gun-for-you.html\" target=\"_blank\">right for <i>you<\/i><\/a>; and seriously now, here&#8217;s some Pollyanna in rose-colored glasses on some serious mind-altering drugs who sees <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aeonmagazine.com\/world-views\/the-strange-benefits-of-a-total-surveillance-state\/\" target=\"_blank\">benefits in the surveillance state<\/a>.
