But the heart and soul of it is about <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052748703438604575314932570154178.html?mod=WSJ_PersonalFinance_PF4\" target=\"_blank\">the psychology of going along with the crowd<\/a>. Good info not to live by.\n<li>The NRA&#8217;s free-speech sellout <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\/Commentary\/the-monitors-view\/2010\/0618\/Congress-can-t-play-favorites-with-the-NRA-in-campaign-reform\" target=\"_blank\">from a different political perspective<\/a>.\n<li>He loves his Mac. He doesn&#8217;t hate Windows. In fact, he thinks Windows 7 is a great product. But <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/technology\/dan_gillmor\/2010\/06\/20\/from_mac_to_linux\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">he&#8217;s switching to Linux<\/a>.\n<li>Well, whaddaya know? Portugal decriminalizes virtually all recreational drug use and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.examiner.com\/x-26370-Libertarian-News-Examiner~y2010m6d20-Portugal-liberalizes-drugs-world-doesnt-end\" target=\"_blank\">the universe fails to implode<\/a>.\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.getrichslowly.org\/blog\/2010\/06\/21\/patience-and-personal-finance\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Patience and Personal Finance.&#8221;<\/a> News you can use if you&#8217;re working on getting out of debt. (News impatient people like me can use any old time.)\n<li>Why it may take years <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/without-jobs-housing-rebound-may-take-years-2010-06-14?pagenumber=2\" target=\"_blank\">for the housing market to be healthy again<\/a>.\n<li>&#8220;Disrespect for Government is as American as Fried Bananas.&#8221; LRC.com ran <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lewrockwell.com\/orig11\/franco1.1.1.html\" target=\"_blank\">this article<\/a> last week. It&#8217;s about contrasts between Latin American attitudes and U.S. American attitudes toward government and law. Thing is, the folks down south <i>know<\/i> their governments are corrupt and dangerous. So they don&#8217;t give them any respect &#8212; and also don&#8217;t favor using them to harass or manipulate their neighbors. A lot of people (me included) shudder at the thought of living in some country where police expect bribes and politicians are nakedly corrupt. But there&#8217;s a darned good argument in favor of such places.\n<li>And finally, just to get your weekend off to an extra cheery start, that Active Denial pain ray we&#8217;ve been hearing about for years has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/dangerroom\/2010\/06\/u-s-testing-pain-ray-in-afghanistan\/\" target=\"_blank\">finally made it into Afghanistan<\/a>.
