Interesting. Jeffrey Snider also goes on (as I recently did) about how seventeenth century England made such a difference to Americans. Then he goes on. And on. About <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realclearmarkets.com\/articles\/2014\/07\/25\/memo_to_the_political_class_you_cant_be_a_hero_and_a_thief_101189.html\" target=\"_blank\">modern-day political thievery<\/a>. Long but interesting.*\n<li>Jury frees man who shot at cops who were <a href=\"http:\/\/reason.com\/blog\/2014\/07\/28\/jury-frees-man-charged-with-shooting-at\" target=\"_blank\">too stupid and lazy<\/a> to bother checking an address.\n<li>And things continue to look up! Woman wins <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thenewspaper.com\/news\/44\/4469.asp\" target=\"_blank\">big settlement<\/a> after cop steals her money and arrests her on false charges. (H\/T <a href=\"http:\/\/www.saysuncle.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Say Uncle<\/a>)\n<li>Everybody knows about Sherman committing war crimes as he pillaged and burned his way to the sea. But I never knew <a href=\"http:\/\/jimbovard.com\/blog\/2014\/07\/25\/wall-st-journal-sheridans-1864-torching-shenandoah-valley\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sheridan did the same thing<\/a> farther north &#8212; on orders from Grant and with the blessing and thanks of Lincoln.\n<\/ul>\n<p>* He screws up saying that Locke fled England under James I. It was James II. But that&#8217;s just being technical.
