But we try, we try.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Free will. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/rs\/2014\/09\/is-free-will-an-illusion-created-by-our-brains\/\" target=\"_blank\">Not just an illusion any more<\/a>. You already knew that, didn&#8217;t you?\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/well.blogs.nytimes.com\/2014\/09\/17\/sit-less-live-longer\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Sit less, live longer.&#8221;<\/a> And it&#8217;s not even about exercise, just about not sitting.\n<li>The countries with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/nation\/2014\/09\/16\/global-well-being-poll-panama\/15679637\/\" target=\"_blank\">highest levels of well-being<\/a>.\n<li>Why Richard Branson is giving employees the freedom to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/why-richard-branson-allows-employees-to-take-unlimited-holiday-leave-2014-9\" target=\"_blank\">take unlimited leave<\/a>.\n<li>I owe someone a hat tip for this, but pardon me I&#8217;ve lost track of whom. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ted.com\/talks\/hans_and_ola_rosling_how_not_to_be_ignorant_about_the_world\/transcript?language=en\" target=\"_blank\">How not to be ignorant about the world<\/a>. Aka all those things people think they know but don&#8217;t really know at all.\n<li>Speaking of which, here&#8217;s a perfect example of how bogus &#8220;knowledge&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/us-addiction-counselor-training-manual-is-full-of-myths-2014-9\" target=\"_blank\">gets institutionalized<\/a>.\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalaffairs.com\/publications\/detail\/freedom-and-the-human-person\" target=\"_blank\">This is mostly, wildly, bogus<\/a> &#8212; just a pseudointellectual way to say, &#8220;Libertarians are wrong.&#8221; The writing style is also thick as a brick. But that said, it&#8217;s one of those things worth reading. If you&#8217;ve got the time and patience for it.\n<\/ul>\n<p>Finally some thanks are in order. I didn&#8217;t mean to bleg when I wrote about the latest roof troubles. Yeah, that was a shock and a blow (and not only to the structure). But it&#8217;s also &#8230; well, life in old houses. After what you guys already did, I&#8217;m not asking a <i>thing<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>But yesterday, in came two $50 donations.
