Well, how about a footnote building? And photos of it (pdf). It seems that some scammed investors didn’t notice (or thought it was an innocent error) that the oil-boom skyscraper was to be 480″, not 480′ tall. LOL.

Footnote people: Marie Duplessis, courtesan, intellectual, inspiration to artists — and dead at 23. Sidney Franklin, “el torero de la Torah.” I remember Franklin from late-night TV back in the 70s when he did analysis (often scathing) of Mexican bullfights. (Yep, I was at one time a fan of bullfighting. Even attended a big-screen pay-per-view to see the flashiest of them all, El Cordobes. Horrible cruel sport. But graceful and gutsy.) And speaking of footnote people, I admired her, as well.

Tip o’ hat to Mike in a recent comments section: Don’t be so sure that those Facebook “friends” are really friends. Could be feds. And oh goody! It’s another new federal agency we’ve never heard of — the Office of Fraud Detection and National Security. With a name like that, I expect we’ll see its budget grow and grow to give us ever greater protection.

But somehow, despite the best efforts of regulators and taxers everywhere, people keep inventing promising new stuff.

Finally, THANK YOU to everybody who’s ordered the new books (or intends to).
