Particularly on the <a href=\"http:\/\/thedeclination.com\/anti-think\/\" target=\"_blank\">question of arms<\/a> and the safety of politically correct minorities.\n<li>One of my personal heroes, Giordano Bruno, was the <a href=\"https:\/\/aeon.co\/essays\/why-giordano-bruno-is-still-a-free-speech-hero-today\" target=\"_blank\">very model of a Freedom Outlaw Agitator<\/a>. Not the most prudent guy ever born. Bit of a suckup to powerful patrons; but that&#8217;s the way it was back then.\n<li>Wow. We&#8217;re fast approaching a milestone (not) to celebrate. Government employees in the U.S. now <a href=\"http:\/\/cnsnews.com\/news\/article\/terence-p-jeffrey\/government-workers-now-outnumber-manufacturing-workers-9932000\" target=\"_blank\">outnumber manufacturing employees<\/a> by a figure that&#8217;s pushing 10 million. (The article calls them workers (sic).)\n<li>Speaking of which, <em>Investors Business Daily<\/em> says that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.investors.com\/news\/economy\/the-shockingly-weak-numbers-inside-the-august-jobs-report\/\" target=\"_blank\">biggest problem<\/a> in yesterday&#8217;s weak jobs report wasn&#8217;t the small number of new jobs. &#8220;&#8230; [I]t&#8217;s that wage gains also slowed and the average workweek is now shorter than at any time since the economy was still getting back on its feet in 2011 &#8230;&#8221;\n<li>There are countless outrages in the world and we&#8217;d implode emotionally if we had to internalize them all. But I confess that one that hits me in the gut every time is self-righteously self-indulgent parents <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/acts-of-faith\/wp\/2016\/09\/01\/she-beat-her-son-with-a-hanger-and-said-indianas-religious-freedom-law-gives-her-the-right\/\" target=\"_blank\">who use religion<\/a> as an excuse for turning their kids into punching bags. In this case, too, she&#8217;s just another violent criminal using any convenient legal loophole to escape accountability.\n<li>Apparently not giving a damn <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/2016\/09\/neuroscientists-explore-the-biological-basis-of-not-giving-a-sht\/\" target=\"_blank\">saves brainpower<\/a>. (I coulda told them that.) More interesting question is whether the workings of the don&#8217;t-give-a-damn brain are genetic or habit-formed or both.\n<li>Jeff Jacoby <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/opinion\/2016\/09\/04\/support-israel-which-why-don-support-aid-israel\/SXvLm92jTazjoV33k7Y65L\/story.html\" target=\"_blank\">nails it<\/a>. I&#8217;ve tried to articulate this myself, but it&#8217;s an issue people tend to respond emotionally about: supporting Israel while <em>not<\/em> supporting foreign aid to Israel.\n<li>But enough of the serious stuff. Have some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=R__1rgcRvYM\" target=\"_blank\">cute beagles<\/a>.
