Authorities don&#8217;t seem to think they need a warrant or a subpoena, just a &#8220;demand.&#8221; Amazon differs.\n<li>There&#8217;s also this little question among money-hungry local governments as to whether <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/12\/26\/us\/politics\/charged-a-fee-for-getting-arrested-whether-guilty-or-not.html\" target=\"_blank\">you should pay them<\/a> for arresting you. The Supremes are expected to weigh in.\n<li>You ready for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.financialpost.com\/m\/wp\/fp-comment\/blog.html?b=business.financialpost.com\/fp-comment\/lawrence-solomon-proof-that-a-new-ice-age-has-already-started-is-stronger-than-ever-and-we-couldnt-be-less-prepared\" target=\"_blank\">a new ice age<\/a>? (C&#8217;mon, damnit. I still want my global warming! Especially now that we in this corner of the world are soon to &#8220;enjoy&#8221; some of the lowest temps we&#8217;ve seen in years.)\n<li>Seven <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/2016\/12\/7-last-mile-solutions-dont-look-unacceptably-stupid\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;last-mile&#8221; commute solutions<\/a> that supposedly don&#8217;t look unacceptably stupid. I would love to see the entire data-brokering business go up in one giant flash. Boom. Reduced to ashes.\n<li>Remember that feral mother dog and her puppies rescued last year by all the members of a bachelor party? Sooooo damned heartwarming.
