That all the drywall seams in the bathroom have popped I don’t mind. No surprise there. We were jacking right under the bathroom and such is to be expected. That’s why smart people (i.e. people not me) fix the foundation first<\/em>.<\/p>\n But the troublesome former porch on the opposite side of the house has suddenly gotten 1\/4-inch wider at the top — again. And that is serious business. Those who’ve been around for a while may recall the dramatic adventures that room has caused in the past. Given that it’s only tenuously a part of the same structure as the wing we’re jacking on, such a move is alarming. The reappearance of an old crack in the kitchen plus hints that the laws of physics are altering over the future screen porch … these things worry me.<\/p>\n We made remarkable progress yesterday. Yet the bubble-level says we still have a long way to go. I’m thinking maybe we just stop and call it good, other than some fine adjustments.<\/p>\n I’ll see what The Wandering Monk has to say when he shows up.
