Wind, hard rain, perhaps even snow in the upper elevations. A good day to huddle inside, read and think.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Congressman Barry Loudermilk seems to understand that guns save lives back in his home state of Georgia. But (how predictable can these people be?), in D.C. he&#8217;s all in favor of only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/2017\/live-updates\/public-safety\/updates-shooting-at-congressional-baseball-practice-in-virginia\/lawmakers-ought-to-be-able-to-carry-guns-ga-house-member-says\/\" target=\"_blank\">the special people being &#8220;allowed&#8221; to bear arms<\/a>.\n<li>OTOH, another congressguy who was also on the shooting scene <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/448631\/immediate-aftermath-congressional-shooting-rep-mo-brooks-offers-spectacular-answer-gun\" target=\"_blank\">performed a hellova lot better<\/a>. Damnfine statement. Here it is <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lachlan\/status\/874995269192089600\/photo\/1\" target=\"_blank\">in writing<\/a>.\n<li>The enduring problems <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/london-fire-the-enduring-problem-of-fighting-high-rise-fires\/\" target=\"_blank\">of highrise fires<\/a>.
