But &#8220;bad training&#8221; doesn&#8217;t excuse <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.simplejustice.us\/2017\/06\/22\/lessons-of-philando-castile-and-the-reasonably-scared-cop-rule\/\" target=\"_blank\">the &#8220;reasonably scared cop&#8221; rule<\/a>.\n<li>Now <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunnyskyz.com\/good-news\/2269\/Police-Officer-Talks-Down-Knife-Wielding-Man-And-HUGS-Him\" target=\"_blank\">here&#8217;s a cop<\/a> who would surely be drummed out of any militarized U.S. police force. Good thing he works in Thailand.\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/why-you-shouldnt-work-for-free-2017-6\" target=\"_blank\">harm of unpaid internships<\/a> (especially for &#8220;creatives,&#8221; whose work tends to be undervalued both by potential employers and ourselves).\n<li>I&#8217;m not sure how this works, but it appears <a href=\"https:\/\/reason.com\/reasontv\/2017\/06\/22\/blockstack-bitcoin-blockchain-internet\" target=\"_blank\">hope is not dead<\/a> for a distributed, privacy-respecting Internet. One which theoretically enables us to &#8220;own&#8221; our personal data. We shall see &#8230;\n<li>Unusual ways <a href=\"http:\/\/www.captainsjournal.com\/2017\/06\/11\/are-you-being-watched-by-the-gun-controllers\/\" target=\"_blank\">the fedgov may be watching<\/a> gun owners.\n<li>And to go along with that, how the CIA <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/security\/2017\/06\/leaked-documents-reveal-secret-cia-operation-for-infecting-air-gapped-pcs\/\" target=\"_blank\">infected air-gapped networks<\/a> with malware.\n<li>New Englanders (and I suspect eventually many of us Elsewhereites): <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fox5ny.com\/news\/262723851-story\" target=\"_blank\">disease-bearing ticks<\/a> are on the rise. (H\/T MJ)\n<li>Next time you&#8217;re tempted to call 911 for help with a toddler <a href=\"https:\/\/reason.com\/blog\/2017\/06\/19\/gust-of-wind-traps-baby-inside-locked-ca\" target=\"_blank\"><em>accidentally<\/em> and momentarily locked in a vehicle<\/a>, think twice. Or lawyer up first.\n<li>I once thought he might be the greatest actor in the world. Then along came Captain Jack Sparrow and Johnny Depp became merely one of the richest and most self-indulgent ego-driven stars in the Hollywood firmament. Now he&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/06\/23\/arts\/johnny-depp-glastonbury-trump.html\" target=\"_blank\">simply another moviestar moron<\/a>\n<li>Oh well. Have some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boredpanda.com\/cats-sleeping-on-dogs\/\" target=\"_blank\">cats using dogs as pillows<\/a>.
