By <a href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/republican-wins-draw-tied-virginia-house-delegates-race\/story?id=52142132\" target=\"_blank\">having his name pulled out of a punch bowl<\/a>.\n<li>Oregonians kinda-sorta, in a smallish way, finally get to pump their own gas. And there&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/post-nation\/wp\/2018\/01\/03\/i-dont-even-know-how-some-oregonians-panic-about-new-self-service-gas-law\/\" target=\"_blank\">panic in the streets<\/a>. (If you want to know why it&#8217;s hard to get people to envision even small amounts of political change, there&#8217;s your perfect example.)\n<li>Sigh. Anslinger and Reefer Madness have been reborn <a href=\"https:\/\/reason.com\/volokh\/2018\/01\/04\/jeff-sessions-escalates-federal-war-on-m\" target=\"_blank\">in the mind and political power<\/a> of Jeff Sessions. This could get a little too interesting.\n<li>Does anyone really want <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2018\/01\/04\/cartersville-georgia-ounce-marijuana-arrests-weed\/\" target=\"_blank\">this kind of BS<\/a> to continue and grow in the U.S.?\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/graphics\/pessimists-guide-to-2018\/\" target=\"_blank\">pessimist&#8217;s guide to 2018<\/a>. (H\/T MJR)\n<li>Washington state&#8217;s AG is a D-party grandstander who uses big public lawsuits to feather his political nest. But this time, I hope he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattletimes.com\/seattle-news\/washington-state-ag-sues-motel-6-over-giving-ice-info-on-9000-guests\/\" target=\"_blank\">kicks Motel 6&#8217;s backside<\/a> for routinely turning over their private guest lists to the feds.\n<li>A brush with death <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2018\/01\/03\/574701108\/brush-with-death-leads-doctor-to-focus-on-patient-perspective\" target=\"_blank\">turned a young doctor<\/a> into an educator and patient advocate.\n<li>Such a sunny little puff piece <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/features\/2018\/01\/a-practical-guide-to-microchip-implants\/\" target=\"_blank\">on behalf of microchip implants<\/a>.\n<li>A dog gets tired of <a href=\"http:\/\/cheezburger.com\/9111410944\/husky-gets-tired-of-waiting-outside-for-his-owner\" target=\"_blank\">waiting outside the restaurant<\/a> for its human.\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sadanduseless.com\/2018\/01\/dog-owl-hybrids\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dog-owls<\/a>.\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<li>This isn&#8217;t a new story.
