After all, it has the URL of our mutual website on it.

I mention our conflict on Snowden not merely as a bit of local color, but because our differences helped inform the book (as we say in the Author’s Note, which you can read via Amazon’s Look Inside feature if you don’t yet have a personal copy). Kit’s my friend, but you can’t imagine how many issues she and I vehemently disagree on.

Working over, around, and through those disagreements made the book stronger. Although it’s aimed at what our first Amazon reviewer called the libertarian wing of the #resistance, we used examples from left, right, and otherwise.

As the same reviewer notes:

… their practical advice about resistance, which is the main focus of the book, will be useful to people anywhere on the political spectrum, and the authors are ecumenical in the examples they draw on and the predecessors they consult. “Whether or not we agree with the politics or methods of other resisters,” the authors write, “we can learn from their successes and failures.” So immigrant rights activists and the Animal Liberation Front appear side-by-side with foes of Planned Parenthood and paleoconservative anti-tax crusader Vivien Kellems in some of the real-world examples the book illustrates, and the authors aren’t ashamed to recommend left-winger Saul Alinksy’s Rules for Radicals as required reading.

In our crazy time of polarization, when people a few steps from each other on the political spectrum can’t converse without name-calling and outlandish accusations, we were very glad to strive for a touch of universality. The fact that Kit and I have so many monumental differences of our own helped us work toward that goal.

—–

As with all the PracticalFreedomista.com memes, if you like this one, please grab it and spread it around.
