It’s Too Darned Hot<\/a> and I’m loving it. Sweating. Cutting walks short. Staying inside with the ceiling fan running. And loving it.<\/p>\n

I did manage to make use of myself this weekend. The general store had all its plants and a lot of its garden pots 50% off. Although I’m normally too black-thumbed to bother, I spotted a whole lot of pretty succulents. <\/p>\n

Even I have a hard time killing succulents. So I made these two mini-gardens for the new front porch.<\/p>\n

More missing cats around town — really around town. The latest beloved house pet, posted LOST at the post office with all 10 of his oochie-coochie nicknames, disappeared from a senior apartment complex right in the center of town.<\/p>\n

We can hope that one disappeared of natural causes. But everybody’s on edge about that mountain lion, and given where s\/he seems to be roaming, they should be. If not downtown, then the cat-snatching feline is all over the edges of the place, including places with lots of children.<\/p>\n

Everybody who knows<\/em> about it’s on edge, that is. The weekly paper hasn’t printed the sightings (or the dead kitties) yet. Guess we’ll see this week whether that’s because they haven’t had time to do it or whether they don’t think it’s news townies need to know.<\/p>\n

Might scare off all those tourists we don’t have. Or something.<\/p>\n

Maybe the cat will encounter the four wolf-dogs some eejit owner keeps allowing to escape into town and they’ll all take care of each other.<\/p>\n

I love this place. I really do. But it has its moments.<\/p>\n

Now it’s cooling off and I’m going to go sit on that very appealing (and functional!) new porch and enjoy the great side benefit of too-darned-hot<\/a>* days. Gloriously cool evenings.<\/p>\n

And I’ll be keeping an eye out for lurking critters, as well.<\/p>\n
