It&#8217;s been a depressing week and good cheer seems in order. Some smiles toward the end.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The notorious Ninth Circuit court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2018\/07\/ninth-circuit-protects-gun-rights-california\/\" target=\"_blank\">actually does something positive<\/a> for gun rights.\n<li>So is Obama going to invite the poor and disadvantaged <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2018\/07\/19\/obama-house-rich\/\" target=\"_blank\">to share that new<\/a> $8 million second home of his?\n<li>Bryan Caplan, econ prof at George Mason, says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/2018\/07\/27\/students-loans-debt-college-weak-students-pay-more-rising-interest-rates-1027867.html\" target=\"_blank\">make college more expensive<\/a> for weaker students (if they&#8217;re going to be there at all).\n<li>Yes, in one way it&#8217;s standard social-justice pecksniffery. And of course old Rudyard is so very un-PC these days. But Scott Greenfield notes <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.simplejustice.us\/2018\/07\/20\/kipling-as-if\/\" target=\"_blank\">the particular irony<\/a> of students censoring Kipling&#8217;s &#8220;If.&#8221;\n<li>Walter Williams on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.creators.com\/read\/walter-williams\/07\/18\/shooting-ourselves-in-the-foot\" target=\"_blank\">shooting ourselves in the foot<\/a> with trade wars.\n<li>If <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blameitonthevoices.com\/2018\/07\/if-famous-scientists-had-logos.html\" target=\"_blank\">famous scientists had logos<\/a>.\n<li>Dog balloons <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sadanduseless.com\/dog-balloons\/\" target=\"_blank\">that floated to the ceiling<\/a> and got stuck. \ud83d\ude42\n<li>How&#8217;s this for a perfect headline? Hero Husky <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boredpanda.com\/hero-dog-husky-saves-abandoned-kittens\/\" target=\"_blank\">rescues dying kitties<\/a>.\n<li>And a cyclist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/lifestyle\/2018\/07\/19\/dog-rescued-by-cyclist-in-georgia-finds-forever-home-with-woman-in-maine.html\" target=\"_blank\">finds an injured dog in a ditch<\/a>, piggy-backs it (the image is great) &#8212; and finds a forever home for it before making it to the vet&#8217;s.
