All that media noise you&#8217;ve been hearing about the star Betelgeuse going supernova &#8212; possibly right on schedule for the infamous year of 2012? <a href=\"http:\/\/news.discovery.com\/space\/dont-panic-betelgeuse-wont-explode-in-2012.html\" target=\"_blank\">Not so much.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Supernova, yes. Some time in the next million years or so. Schedule, no. Nor will a supernova produce anything like &#8220;the twin suns of Tatooine.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But then, you knew that, didn&#8217;t you?<\/p>\n<p>Scary, though, how many people (including the well-paid media mavens at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2011\/01\/20\/two-suns-twin-stars_n_811864.html\" target=\"_blank\"><i>Huffington Post<\/i><\/a>) uncritically buy that brand of nonsense.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hm.
