Yes, it’s just a plain-vanilla pantry with no fancy features, but it’s going to make it much easier to keep everything organized, easy to find, and (yes, Bear) simpler to rotate.<\/p>\n Pat’s original blueprint called for one shelf to be extended to make a desk or a landing spot for newly purchased groceries. I really like that idea and will aim to retrofit a small desk between those 2×2 supports eventually.<\/p>\n I’m relieved finally to use those doors! I got them years ago at a charity rummage sale ($4 for the pair; damn, I love bargain-hunting). First I intended to use them in a linen closet. That didn’t work out. Next they were intended for the bedroom closet. That didn’t work out. As of today they’d been sitting outside in the weather or on the screen porch so long that it took an hour and a half to scrub the grime and spiders off them. <\/p>\n But they’ve found a home, and that’s one more bit of construction clutter that’s clutter no more. Only thing now is to move a doorknob one panel leftward, which will take me about five minutes.<\/p>\n One regret: I don’t have sufficient leftover drywall to finish the exterior. We drywalled inside the doorway and I can manage one sidewall with what remains in my stash. But the rest will have to wait until January when the Monk and I set about finishing the laundry\/sewing room and have more wallboard to cannibalize.<\/p>\n Friday will be a long day of cleanup and organization. But I’m looking forward to that. <\/p>\n Well, almost. The organizing part, yeah. The cleanup not so much.
