I received a wealth of impressive book-contest entries. You guys made your cases well — eloquently, persuasively, factually, with humor, “gud speling,” and in one case even with a limerick. One clever soul wrote a generally very strong entry (one of the top three), then noted that in addition to eloquence and reason, he was adding ass-kissing, just in case. He didn’t win, but I appreciated his thoroughness. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n
The entries were so good I’d have have loved to split the prize. But T.F won the day and the entire box of books (and DVD).<\/p>\n

I apologize for being a week late on the announcement. I’m still not quite back among the living, but I’m getting there. <\/p>\n
Ava’s back home. I picked her up this morning, but I was so out of it that Furrydoc’s office manager had to lead me step-by-step through the incredibly looooong, commmmmmmplicated, intellectually challenging process of running my debit card through their machine. Even then I ended sticking the signed copy of the receipt into my pocket instead of handing to her. She had to grab it back from me while I stood there looking stupid — though not as stupid as I felt.<\/p>\n
