But sometime in October or November, I will have 20-some autographed copies of the trade paperback version of Basics of Resistance<\/em>. If all goes well, they’ll be signed by both Kit Perez and me. Great gifts for your Outlaw friends and relatives.<\/p>\n —–<\/p>\n 3. If you’re a regular reader, you know that Amazon dumped me ignominiously and with zero notice from its Associates program. Whether this was another deliberate and typical “progressive” deplatforming of a libertarian blogger or they really were upset about a rule I apparently broke eight years ago, we may never know.<\/p>\n They did, however, dump me with warmest regards<\/a>. I simply can’t tell you how much better that made me feel.<\/p>\n Associates commissions had been the blog’s largest regular monthly income source for years. <\/p>\n Amazon notified me I was persona non grata<\/em> one day after I re-stated my pledge never to have another blog fundraiser except in case of dire emergency. That’s still my intention. I do, however, need to re-establish the broad monthly base of small contributions<\/em> that Amazon made so effortlessly possible. <\/p>\n There are now four ways to make those small contributions:<\/p>\n I hate to say it, but since I announced the new options several weeks ago, response has been dismal. Almost nil. I’ve received three “coffees” (two from the same person). Two or three existing patreons have upped their monthly pledges. Two new patreons have signed on. And nobody has opted for SubscribeStar.<\/p>\n Several faithful readers have PayPaled or snailed donations and I’m grateful for their kindness. One dear supporter made sure I wouldn’t be hurting for a long time. But what the blog and I need is a small, but predictable monthly infusion that comes from a broad base of readers. Just like Amazon used to supply. But there are no other affiliate programs as effective as Amazon. <\/p>\n Since readers have jumped in generously during all three past blog fundraisers, I’m guessing the problem isn’t lack of interest, but a dislike of the online small-contribution model.
