101 Things<\/em> — grubby, but free!<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

Last month a curious member of the Living Freedom Forums<\/a> discovered a copy of my old 101 Things to do ‘Til the Revolution<\/em><\/a> hiding at Archive.org.<\/p>\n

Not a pretty copy, mind you. It’s a scan of a physical book that (so someone told me) even has coffee stains scanned in. But there it is.<\/p>\n

I’m not thrilled when anybody pirates my work. I’m especially un-thrilled when a rich outfit like Archive.org scans an entire book without even trying to get permission of the writer who conceived and gave painful birth to it. But that’s the Internet. Anyhow, 101 Things<\/em> is old and mostly obsolete. I’m not asking for it to be taken down. If you want a copy and don’t have one, there it is.<\/p>\n

Oh, and scroll farther down that same page. There’s a treasure trove — literally hundreds — of Paladin Press and similar Outlaw books there for the taking. What their authors think about that, I don’t know. But in this age of banned books, you might find something useful.<\/p>\n

Rats! The no-snitch book — ALWAYS free<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

I was barely recovered from that little journey down Memory Lane when someone invited me to take another. A nice fellow write to ask if any of my old books were available for a small-press publisher he was working with.<\/p>\n

Well, mostly no. But in looking back at old titles, I was reminded of another freebie y’all might like. Rats!<\/em>, the no-snitch book<\/a> was a collaboration between me and the Living Freedom blog Commentariat. And you know, if I do say so myself, it’s good.<\/p>\n

Goodness is largely due to the anonymous or pseudonymous contributors — including former cops, ex-cons, lawyers, professional interrogator\/investigators, former outlaw bikers, and political activists. In other words, people who know all the ways that snitches and trickery can turn a harmless person into an accused criminal or destroy an activist group.<\/p>\n

Rats!<\/em> Takes an hour to read and could save you years of anguish.<\/p>\n

Ebook. Five formats. All free. There are even files you can host on your own site, as long as you agree to the EZ conditions stated on the page. Enjoy.<\/p>\n

Good old articles — also free, of course<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

I told the nice fellow from the publisher I didn’t have anything exclusive for him (though he’s now posted a pdf copy of Rats!<\/em>), but thanked him for asking, rather than just pirating.<\/p>\n

Well … um, er<\/em>, he explained.<\/p>\n

But he just as quickly (and kindly) offered either to take down or pay for two articles he’d picked up out of the old Loompanics quarterly catalog.<\/p>\n

Although the word “pay” is music to a writer’s ears, I told him he was just fine, no problem, let ’em be. Then I went off to have a look at them, myself.<\/p>\n

One was “Dark Satanic Cubicles”<\/a>, ca. 2005. An old favorite. That was the piece that eventually led to me writing the book, How to Kill the Job Culture Before It Kills You<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Still a favorite after all these years. I hope you like it.<\/p>\n

The other I’d forgotten all about, and had certainly forgotten I ever gave an article such a name. “The Humping-Dog Factor”<\/a>, ca. 2006, details the painfully tight hookup between Big Brother and Little Brother corporations. The examples are dated, but it won’t take but a minute to see how the piece is still true and the problem has gotten orders of magnitude worse in 15 years.<\/p>\n

Again, there are other articles by other writers and you might enjoy those, too.<\/p>\n

BTW, the publisher the charming fellow is working with is Dojo Press<\/a>. It began life as a martial arts publisher and is now branching out. It’s worth a look in its own right and I wish the good folks there well.<\/p>\n
