Bad in the long run for privacy.\n<li>National Geographic is usually pretty good. But it appears their new series, which starts next week, <a href=\"http:\/\/channel.nationalgeographic.com\/channel\/doomsday-preppers\/\" target=\"_blank\">sets out only to portray us all as loons<\/a>. So much for progress. (Tip o&#8217; hat to H.)\n<li>Here&#8217;s a perfect example of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/us-government-more-threatening-than-hitler-to-this-swiss-bank-2012-1\" target=\"_blank\">the long arm of the U.S. government<\/a>.\n<li>Might not agree with this guy 100%. But <a href=\"http:\/\/yourlife.usatoday.com\/health\/story\/2012-01-30\/Doctor-exposes-the-dangers-of-overtreatment\/52893278\/1\" target=\"_blank\">bless his noble heart<\/a>. (Nice <a href=\"http:\/\/yourlife.usatoday.com\/health\/story\/2012-01-30\/Doctors-say-he-has-duty-to-tell-the-truth\/52893344\/1\" target=\"_blank\">backgrounder<\/a> on him, too.) I&#8217;ll soon be reading <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0312672977\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=livifree07-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=0312672977\" target=\"_blank\">his book<\/a>.\n<li>And here&#8217;s another doctor with courage &#8212; though it may be too little, too late for millions of children: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2012\/01\/29\/opinion\/sunday\/childrens-add-drugs-dont-work-long-term.html\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Ritalin Gone Wrong.&#8221;<\/a>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/c\/a\/2012\/01\/30\/MN921N0LQT.DTL\" target=\"_blank\">Thugette<\/a>. Every time I see stuff like this, I recall how, just five or six years ago, we were constantly assured that Tasers would be <i>solely<\/i> used in encounters that would otherwise call for deadly force. The term &#8220;compliance tool&#8221; was never uttered. Now it appears they&#8217;re merely &#8220;educational devices.&#8221;\n<li>Of course the lie about inflation is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nypost.com\/p\/news\/business\/dial_if_this_story_makes_your_eyes_mUsVVoUaMuMRt4AK2DlXxJ\" target=\"_blank\">even bigger than this says<\/a>.<br \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good for people who&#8217;ve suffered brain injuries that affect speech.
