The other day I linked to an article that found one good thing to say about Rick Santorum (he’s strongly opposed to Obamacare and was, at least that day, making repeal a centerpiece of his campaign).<\/p>\n
I fear that some took that as an endorsement of Santorum. Never mind that I’d be as likely to endorse Vlad Dracul, Typhoid Mary, or any average inhabitant of an insane asylum.<\/p>\n
In fact, speaking of inhabitants of insane asylums … With the entire freaking world coming apart at the seams and the economy headed off yet another, steeper cliff, Santorum has been busy demonstrating his complete and utter irrelevance (and cluelessness). To wit: promising that a crackdown on porn<\/a> will be a presidential priority and declaring that those pesky Puerto Ricans will just have to learn English<\/a> if they want to join the states. Because you know, it’s the law. Even if it’s not actually the law. And because, well, all God’s chosen people speak English.<\/p>\n I know. I shouldn’t care. Even the best politician (e.g. Ron Paul) really ought not be … well, a politician, and has no right to rule free people. But isn’t it just the most crazy-amazing thing that, in a year when the president should be easier to knock down than a row of ducks in a carnival shootin’ game, this<\/i> is the caliber of candidate the R’s come up with? And the R voters swoon for?<\/p>\n My lord, Santorum’s ideas make re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic seem fabulously relevant by comparison.<\/p>\n One part of me says this can’t just be happenstance — that “they” (you know, the secret Establishment) find Obama to be such a useful tool that they’re deliberately fielding the Three Stooges (and one lovely no-hoper) against him.
