Obama could have stopped all<\/i> these fed raids years ago with … what, a memo to each agency? One executive order? (Because one of the few legitimate purposes of EOs is to set executive policies and instruct federal agencies.) But nooooo.<\/p>\n

Presidents come and go. Bureaucratic fiefdoms remain impregnable. And their minions grow ever-nastier.<\/p>\n

ADDED: Mother Jones<\/i> has a pretty good take on this, too.<\/a> And they don’t spare Obama. In fact, they point out that he is actually outpacing the Busheviks<\/i> in number of raids. Ain’t that just the way it goes? Ratcheting, ratcheting ever tighter.<\/p>\n

Time once again to give a nod to old FPA<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Prohibition is an awful flop.
\nWe like it.
\nIt can’t stop what it’s meant to stop.
\nWe like it.
\nIt’s left a trail of graft and slime,
\nIt don’t prohibit worth a dime,
\nIt’s filled our land with vice and crime.*
