Monday miscellany

  • They debunk it. And they debunk it. But no matter what they say, the story of the pink mystery goop remains as unappetizing as ever.
  • Wanna pay $50,000 for a place in an underground community? (What’s up with this business of preparing to survive the end of the world, though? I mean, if it’s the end. Of the world. Well … uh, it’s THE END. Might as well spend your money on a big party instead of a dark hole in the ground.)
  • “13 Steps That Would Guarantee the Next Economic Collapse.” And guess who’s busy doing all 13?
  • Per LewRockwell.com: 19 common edible plants. With helpful pictures. And some general tips on things to avoid.
  • I was saving up links late last week to write a rant on the latest developments in the foreclosure fiasco. Wow. This could be a death knell for some oh-so-deserving bankers — if Obama doesn’t pull a “pocket rescue” (per the so-called tinfoil hat theory). I’m not going to have time to do a writeup. But OMG, the banks (and Congress) are hip deep in their own sh*t. So if you care … link, link, link, link, link, link. There. Those articles give a pretty comprehensive look. And that’s aside from the fact that, with all that “mortgage securitization,” more than one institution may claim ownership of a given house. Whotta mess!
  • Some good discussion on the Oath Keepers baby case. It’s not just a matter of a newborn being seized by the state because of the parents’ politics. But why should their politics be a factor at all? Scary. (But also nothing new. Years ago there was a famous case in which a judge ordered a child taken away from his father because the father was an atheist. And, if dim memory serves, an intellectual.)
  • Now they know what it feels like.

Claire, regarding the debunking…one thing to keep in mind is the times article regarding beef. If they can ‘legaly’ use amonia for beef, then they’re lying if they say they can’t (or don’t) use it for chicken.

I still say it’s Soylent Pink. Interesting how the Voices of Authority are jumping in to set us straight on this. We all believe them, of course….

Your links on the “foreclosure fiasco” — which is looking like a whole lot more than that terminology implies — tell the story, but still from the point of view of the System. Here’s the story from another angle:

A den of vipers and thieves

Andrew Jackson made the correct decision 177 years ago when he risked the short term pain of a financial recession to surgically excise a morbidly cancerous banking system from the nation. Today, Ben Bernanke, Barack Obama and the incoming Republican majorities in the House and Senate are facing the same difficult choice. They can save the banking system, or they can save the nation … but they can only choose one.

      Addendum to above

Soylent Pink! I like that-something not mentioned is what does a mechanical chicken seperator look like? Sounds deeply Wile. E Coyote to me, with that “factory music” Warner bros. used in their cartoons that involved weird machinery(Carl Stalling’s version of Raymond Scott’s “Powerhouse”, in case you’ve ever wondered..).

That link about the plant info, am I the only one who thinks the picture of asparagus looks nothing like asparagus?

It doesn’t even look like the wild asparagus I see around here.

Here’s the article linked by Vox Day, also posted at LRC over the weekend, which seems to be going viral: “The Coming Middle-Class Anarchy

Thanks, Philalethes. I saw that article when it appeared at LewRockwell.com and thought it was tremendous. I’m glad to see it going viral. I expect it’ll be one of those articles (like “Nation of Cowards” from the mid-1990s, and even my own variously titled “Pearl Harbor Legislation” or “Land Mine Legislation” from the late 90s) that keeps going for years like the Energizer bunny.

… ‘Course, this one might not have years to go, if those predictions about the middle class come true.

      Claire,

Someone has to play the part of the Eloi when H.G. Wells traveled to the future! I’ll pass on paying $50K for the opportunity, though!
