    Good to see them back.

In reference to the off duty security officer that shot a dog at a dog park that was in the blog a while back. I notice that on the Armed Citizen Blog that 40% of the incidents posted todays are people shooting dogs that were obviously trangressing (not simply misunderstood). Not to say that the security officer was in the right in that instance, but it is important to note that a fair number of the threats to safety out there today are K9 in nature. Not all dogs are fuzzy bunnies apparently.

Chemsoldier, the big problem is that the cops very, very seldom bother to find out before they start shooting. When a person breaks the door down, or invades the dog’s territory aggressively, it’s not really any wonder that the dogs react. But that doesn’t automatically mean they are ever a real danger to a cop. Very few people keep truly dangerous dogs for pets, and most of those weigh far more than a few pounds.

Funny thing… I went house to house in my nursing career for about 14 years. I was never attacked, and never even felt threatened by a family pet – though of course it could happen.

I just don’t think it happens that often.

I just had seen the video of Joe Harper (the 82 years young guy who stopped the people robbing him) ~ and got the whole story off The Armed Citizen link……Good for Joe, putting that background of his to use, even now……
