Wednesday miscellany

  • Paul Allen and Burt Rutan have done it again. Whoohoo! We might make it seriously into space despite the government’s worst efforts. (Tip o’ hat to PT.)
  • I don’t know what Cadbury Schwepps has to do with dogs in cars. But this is a thing of beauty. (And here are more dogs in cars in slow-motion if you liked that.)
  • So. Why wasn’t the police officer charged with reckless endangerment or discharging a firearm in a somewhat inopportune place or …?
  • Ron Paul overtaking Gingrich in Iowa? Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
  • Speaking of Newt, didn’t you think it was a howl that he signed that (purely political) pledge of marital fidelity the other day? I mean, here’s a man who presumably pledged fidelity to his wives three times and broke the pledges at least twice. Of course, wife #3 (and former mistress #2 or #2+) Callista looks like she’d happily poke his eyes out with her fingernails and eat them like cocktail olives if he cheated on her.

Funny that they didn’t mention the fact that not declaring a firearm in checked luggage is illegal as well, that checking a loaded firearm is illegal as well. Poor quality officer that forgets what weapons are in his luggage. I had to establish a personal rule, any luggage that gets filled with guns or ammo, is not used for air travel. If I check a firearm, it is in an appropriate case.

Newt had to sign the pledge, everyone knows his wedding vows were not enough. I am sure Callista had a quality prenup.

Matt- it wasn’t the tax parasite who brought the gun to the airport (well, not THAT gun, anyway), he was the one who fired it. The gun wasn’t causing any danger until the clueless enforcer got his paws on it.

Also notice: “TSA … has the authority to level a civil penalty when a firearm is brought to a checkpoint”. So, even if those checkpoints are on the interstate or on your neighborhood street? I’m sure.
