I’m seeing a Keystone Kops episode as the PD run around trying to save their precious cameras. “Car 9, code red, code red, camera painter at 1st Nat Bank””Car 12, emergency to 5th and Main, the camera’s being peed on””Car 27, we’re being mass mooned from the Burger King parking lot” Car 54, where are you?”
And oh the stories the courts are going to hear “Well yer honor, if I’da knowed the camera was werking I surely wouldn’t have busted it” gotta be a Top 10 right out of the gate.

So, when people start destroying the cameras watching the cameras they can put up new cameras to watch them until there’s just a big circle of cameras focused on each other. Then no one will need to destroy the cameras anymore because they will be useless for their intended goal of destroying liberty. Yay!

Well, actually, that’s how I ended up with 5 of them. First one was to monitor the trailer. Second to monitor the road, but that one is at the end of the driveway on the shed, so another to monitor the shed and road camera, then another to monitor the porch and camera monitoring the road camera. And I really need a few more for full coverage…

Of course none of them can demonstrate any shred of evidence that the cameras do anything at all to promote “public safety.” But I suspect more than a few get a cool kickback from the sale of all those expensive camera systems… And that’s beside the voyeur factor, of course.

Here in the UK the static speed cameras known as GATSOs are housed in a steel box as a large number met with mysterious accidental damage. Then some enterprising soul manufactured a self adhesive lens which fitted perfectly over the cameras view window. It distorted all the photographs making the license plates unreadable. 12 were removed by Cardiff police in one day alone. Now all speed cameras are watched by another camera and many are now digital and directly linked to the control room. But accidents do still happen! I am not one to smile at others misfortune by I does gladden my heart to hear of mysterious mischief to anything CCTV. Living out in the sticks as we do makes you appreciate your privacy more I think!

Roger, some of us have happily followed the “adventures” of your GATSOs for years, drawing great inspiration and a lot of laughs. I didn’t know that your governments were ahead of us in installing cams to monitor the cams — but somehow, it figures. The UK is ahead of the USA in everything Big Brotherish (aren’t you proud? 😉 )

In an old Mad paperback, there was a comic with little creatures called Watchbugs…in one panel, there was one Watchbug watching another Watchbug…Kinda scary mwhen Mad magazine accurately predicts the future.

So how come we can’t get cameras to capture the Prince George’s police beating and shooting innocent people? The locale where the spy cameras on the spy cameras are going up is notorious for many of the worst police abuses in the nation.

I dunno Claire. Your TSA are way beyond anything here. And that new act where they can detain you without charge indefinitely. Even Tony Blair couldn’t get that past parliament, and it wasn’t like Teflon Tony to miss out on something like that! But yes we do seem to be a bit of a testing ground for you. Mind you we’ve not started using drones yet either!! My biggest wonder about the USA is how your all not in jail. I mean you have the FBI, ATF,CIA,NSA, the secret service, the treasury department, the US marshalls, the regular police, the state police, the sheriffs dept. I’ve probably missed a few there and if so I apologise. How is anyone supposed to keep track of all the laws administered by so many agencies. My brother has a theory that the US national debt is caused solely by buying badges for all these different agencies LOL.(ours is just caused by incompetence!) Why is it our governments feel such a need to spy on us?

Here in Mi. U.P. we also have the Tribal Police, Coast Guard, Border Patrol, Social Security Police and the Federal uniformed police (for guarding federal buildings) all armed and have the power of arrest.
