323 … 334 …

wow. Yesterday I requested help pushing this month’s Amazon totals to 320 shipped items — a plateau I’ve barely even seen off in the distance in previous months. To make it, 53 more items would need to be shipped via my Amazon links before Friday.

wow. This morning — 92 new items ordered. This morning — 72 new items shipped or instantly delivered.

You did it. You can stop now.

Or not. πŸ™‚

wow. And you didn’t just do this with cheap trinkets and $.99 Kindle books, though that’s all it would have taken to get the needed numbers. You did it with the usual variety of purchases … and maybe more than usual. I can tell you, some people are gettin’ some pretty cool stuff for Christmas.

I must admit, though, that I was charmed that somebody actually did buy 10 boxes of the cheap pens I linked to (hope they work for you for years to come). And somebody, presumably not the buyer of the pens, though I will never know, got a Kindle book called “1000 Years of Annoying the French.”

Must put that on my reading list, for sure.

β€œ1000 Years of Annoying the French.”

    Must be the English…

Yep. It’s about relations between the English and the French since 1066. That’s an interesting topic, anyhow. But that title makes it even better.

Yeah, I just looked it up. It does sound interesting.

Now I’d like to read one on “1000 Years of Annoying the Scots”…

    And I should have said “…The Scots/Irish/Picts.”

How ’bout 1000 Years of Annoying the Brits? The Irish have done that pretty well … though of course the Brits did a lot more than “annoy” in response.

It’s not like annoying any of that lot is all that hard.

“It’s not like annoying any of that lot is all that hard.”

    Hm. Too true.

In fact, if you’re talking about governments, those seem very easy to annoy, no matter where or who they are. That gives me an idea for another book: “Americans: Annoying the Federal Government since 1794.”

They’re all noobs compared to the Isaac/Ishmael feud.

Uh, yeah. The Isaac/Ishmael feud. I usually try to stay far away from that one (and wish Uncle Sam would, too). But did you see this absolutely brilliant Nina Paley take on that — and its predecessors?

(For youngsters, the song is the theme from “Exodus,” about the re-settlement of Israel after WWII.)

Damn! I didn’t get my order in in time! Good good you people! Is there a next plateau?

Even more fun would be “1000 years: cats annoying the human race.”

Karen — thanks for the thought, but the next plateau is so high I can’t even see it from here. I think it would require another 300 shipped items by the end of this week. (They start the plateaus out really small, so even a few dozen items can take you to the next level. But once you get up there, they make you push harder. I’m happy to have made it this far, thanks to you guys.)

Wow, that’s a great video. It’s hard to imagine, sadly, how it will ever be any different in that region.

ML, might we turn that title around? πŸ™‚

    Claire,

Or the converse “Government: Annoying Freedom Loving Americans since 1794”

To keep the bookbinder from breaking his back with 1 massive volume, it could be broken down into sections: Part I- 1794-1800, Part II-1800-1810, etc. While it would be an editorial nighmare, deciding what stays and what goes, a decade worth of gov annoyance should fit into 200 pgs or less. Obviously some decades (like the 1960s) would exceed that guideline.

It helped me get off my rear and order the stuff I was planning on ordering anyway. There are just a few things you can’t get US made. I always try to shop at home first. Hope this makes your Christmas a little merrier, even if you don’t believe in Santa Clause.

Thank you Ladytiger! Hope to see you again in the comments.

furrydoc — I’m definitely headed toward a Merry Christmas. Hope you are, too.

In keeping with “1000 years of annoying the French”. Common theme regarding the French military. French military rifles for sale. Never fired, dropped once.

I think I may have gotten a little carried away buying stuff for my new paperwhite, hope it helped!
