- “Cannabis: The Audacity of Dope.” When Reefer Madness goes legit.
- Another gun-maker joins the rebellion — and does it in no uncertain terms. (H/T JG)
- Basset hound and “dad” reunited after 10 years.
- At the end of December, Bob Owens looked around his local gun stores and wrote, “This isn’t a society stocking up on certain guns because they fear they may be banned. This is a society preparing for war.” (H/T BW)
- And he mentioned something I can’t recall ever hearing about, though it was an important precursor to the American Revolution: The Powder Alarm. Yep. That’s a good analogy for where things stand now. The tyrants hadn’t yet started killing people to get their guns and ammo. They just confirmed their intentions and the colonists’ suspicions.
- Hey, look! Business owners, here’s yet another “benefit” from the fedgov and possibly another addition to your “three felonies a day” quota (and you are doing your share to keep up, aren’t you?). You could become a criminal for running criminal background checks on prospective employees.
Hats Off to all the gun makers/sellers who are boycotting NY gov’t agencies!!
I hope they make the money back tenfold from other “less-progressive” states and a lot of civillian customers.
Myself being located in the “Empire State” (it’s starting to feel that way big time!) I unfortunately can’t give them any legal business in the short term, but we’re working heavily on repealing the whole mess.
Another rally is coming up on the 28th of this month at the Capitol in Albany, right on the heels of a very succesful one on Feb. 12. Let’s hope this one turns out more people yet!
When I first saw that quote about “a society preparing for war,” I figured it was more of the Internet blowhard stuff I see from the “3 percent” crowd. But then last week I needed to buy a new pair of combat boots, as the soles on my current pair are getting worn down–and I found that combat boots are back-ordered six to eight weeks. When there’s a shortage of good boots I’m inclined to think that people really are getting serious.
Ken — Now there’s an observation. Not to mention a line that will go perfectly in an article I’m writing. Mind if I attribute to “a blog reader”?
Boots on the ground. Don’t remember who said that’s what it takes. My feet are getting wider at the ball over time, and good boots that fit are hard to find. Not Red Wings, I know that. I want to find some that are built like Red Wings, but shaped like Keen.
And, add Spike’s to the boycott list.
Bob Owens, yes. He’s rather out of favor these days, and that’s just one example. Say Uncle is another.
So, since I’m into moderation here, I might as well toss in a couple funnies.

Claire, be my guest.
Just saw this, this morning and am going to pass it on, FWIW…
since I fell asleep to the constant sound of heli’s flying over the house for 45 minutes… don’t know how spunky I am at the moment. I know I agree with the author that organization – followed by secure communications – is essential.

jed should have been required to post a coffee snorting warning on that second cheezburger.com link! Seems I’ve been feeling that way for quite a while of late.
There was a time when I thought it best for libertarians/anarchists to stay quiet; that to draw attention to thoughts and preparations would lead TPTB to learn of and thus head off our direction or intent.
Now I think it’s time to rattle our sabers, so to speak – to let them know we’re on to them; to let them know the magnitude of the fight that may be coming; and to let them know the seriousness with which we take their aggression.
After reading PPV’s comment and link, I would add:
Yes, it IS time! Time to take a stand – not to kill the bastards _necessarily_, but to tell them we are preparing against *any* form of aggression they send our way, physical, legal or (im)moral. And “they” include the media who cowardly cannot think for themselves, but suck up the slop they are fed from governments and other would-be powers (such as the U.N.) who wish to rule the world.
(A previous article about the military of foreign countries invading our space is very real. There was an article in a local paper two weeks ago re British Air Force pilots coordinating with American Air Force pilots stationed on a nearby military base, and being taught some maneuvers using their and our Air Force planes together – and who no doubt wll be given American GPS coordinates.)
The link provided by PPV is worth reading.
We’re not quite there yet, but I think it’s almost time to “shoot the bastards”!
Well. I’ve fantasized writing my own list of demands/grievances… but with this administration, I’m not so sure I would deliver it in person. I’m old, but I still have a few years left and reasonable level of health for my age! I’d want at least a head start, you know? 😉
I think I wish them well and will probably check in on them again, to see how things are going. Organization needs to happen now. I keep thinking… that if Anonymous can really do what it says it can do, I’d challenge them to design a secure system that the gov’t couldn’t get into. That would be a real positive contribution… even if it’s not needed to defend our selves and our country.
Whatever happens, I know I’m not gonna be a front line person. I’m over that hill of physical ability and stamina.
I don’t know, PPV, but it seems to me that we old-timers should be the ones on the front lines. After all, we’re the ones who let things get this bad, and it’s our children whose liberty we’re trying to preserve. They need to survive to enjoy it. We don’t.
Maybe I’m too cynical, but PPV’s linkwriter sounds like embodiment of the warning we all gave our kids: “The fed is the one who will incite others to violence, name the target, etc”
“The fed is the one who will incite others to violence, name the target, etc”
Recent history shows us there is a lot of wisdom in that statement. Maybe we should emulate another slogan instead. “Be an army of one”.
I noticed another interesting shortage: combat optics such as reflex sights and ACOGs. It’s not to the level of “you can’t find one anywhere,” but there are an awful lot of out of stock, backordered two+ months, and “only 2 left” notices on websites that sell them…
