I’m not going to trumpet, “You did it!” or anything like that. But Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval vetoed the notorious bill, SB221.
It would have, among other things, have imposed de-facto gun registration and created thousands of new “criminals.” Worse, though, it would likely have become a model for other states.
Sandoval intended all along to veto it, I’m sure. The interesting thing was that he set up a call-in hotline to allow anyone, anywhere to v*te for or against a veto. Billionaire Bloomberg tried to rally his (ahem) grassroots anti-gunners while gun groups and the gunblogosphere rallied the real grassroots.
With all of Nanny Bloomberg’s bux and bluster, his people managed to get about one fourth of the total v*te.

Bloomy’s not finding a lot of love outside NYC, is he?
Yep, it is showing how out of touch that idiot Bloomberg is with the rest of the country. It also shows he can’t just buy the country he wants to live in either…at least not yet.
It also shows that if Bloomberg is out of touch, then the rest of NYC is also out of touch since they kept re-electing that SOB.
New Yorkers as a group have been fools for a very long time. This is Bloomberg’s third (!) term, and before that they have a history of electing (and re-electing) idiots to the mayoralty. Just go through the list: Giuliani (who had a few redeeming features, but was basically an offensive statist), Dinkins, Koch, Beame, Lindsay; I think (but can’t be certain; I was too young to have a good idea of his term) that Wagner was the last decent one. They get what they deserve.
Or get what the vote counters want to “count”.
I wouldn’t put it pass them to do just that.
[New Yorkers as a group have been fools for a very long time.]
Well, people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Look who “we” have been electing president all these years. I don’t care for New York but I wouldn’t be painting all New Yorkers with the same brush…
