25 science-backed things that make you happier

… even when genetics and circumstances conspire against you.

Iligitimi non carborundum.

Oh yeah, the happy-science article forgot to mention cute dog videos. Even when they’re just commercials, they’re right up there with cute cat pix as mood lifters.

BTW, you can get the cool led-light collars (and leashes) on Amazon. I didn’t intend this post to be a promotional, but what the heck. My Amazon sales are down a little and if you don’t want any buckets of wheat berries, Israeli bandages (a perennially popular Amazon item hereabouts), survival knives or gourmet coffee, maybe some dress-up for your dog?

Yeah, retail therapy. Works in the short term often enough. I keep looking at the 500 lumen O-Light M20S-X. But then, AR-15 uppers are showing up again. Decisions, decisions. Have to wait until I know whether I owe the dentist anything more.

I know I’ve posted this before, but it’s impossible to not get a happy feeling listening to Birdhouse in Your Soul.

I have enough knives to last both of us the rest of our lives, with leftovers. Nonetheless, I still think about the Ontario ASEK, among others.

“Maintain a position of power”? Then politicians ought to be the happiest people on earth. OTOH, they’re too busy trying to get more power to enjoy their ‘happiness.’

Actually some things on that list (plus ten ways proven to relax) hit the target, if “happiness” means a self-fulfilling period of satisfaction. But I disagree that, in “The How of Happiness…” book, 50% is due to genetics. In what manner would genetics influence happiness? Is there a gene for “unhappiness”? If these activities can so truly induce happiness, they seem more influential than genetics.

Heh. Yeah, that’s neat. But I don’t have an outlet by a light switch. I should buy one, just so I’m prepared for that day when I do.

Claire, I trust you’re aware that Richard Stallman, founder and president of the Free Software Foundation, has denounced Amazon for their shady business practices? [http://stallman.org/amazon.html]
