Well, not quite the latest. I took this photo of Sweetie, her brother Nigel, and Mike (one of her humans) in July when they were passing through my area at the start of a vacation. In this summer’s chaos, I neglected to post it.
It’s not a great pic of Sweetie. She was pretty wired by the presence of several other dogs she wanted to get a piece of.
But I can report that — despite the fact that she alternates between being called Sweetie and Devil Dog — the poor deaf/heartworm positive/unpredictable/rejected heeler that you guys helped so generously last fall has herself a very, very happy home for life.
Mike and family have taken her camping a couple of times this summer. While there’s always a rough adjustment period around other vacationing dogs, big brother Nigel helps put things right and the human family is continuing to work on some of Sweetie’s other issues.
Sez Mike, “She still has a bit of reputation to mend but we’re working on that.”

Thanks for the update. So great to hear about a happy ending for an unwanted dog! Made my day.
It’s nice to know that she turned out OK. Thanks Thanks for the update.
She’s not such a bad little dog. She just needs a little love. ;^) And some good guidance. Hurrah for her human and canine companions!
Thanks for the update! Love those happy endings.
Always tickled to hear news about Sweetie … thank you Mike, for sticking with her. She had so many strikes against her … but when she is sweet, she is so very sweet… love you, Sweetie.
Thanks for the update Claire!
I knew of Sweetie from Mary Lou – I’m actually in Australia, and took to this lovely “Bluey” from the pictures I saw of her. I am SO glad that she’s fine now, with a real home, and people to love her always. I’ve thought about her on an off for a long time now, always wishing her well. Bless the girl, and all those who worked so hard to help her.
