The links in this first batch were meant to go in Friday’s “Waves of History” post, but I was running out of time. So here they are — perhaps for some inspiration?
- Kevin D. Williamson on citizens pushing back.
- There’s now an online whistleblower support system. Originally written by Aaron Swartz. Maybe in death he’ll be able to prevent someone else from being hounded into suicide by vicious prosecutors.
- Borepatch: “Obama Agonistes.”
- Justin Raimondo: “American Apocalypse.”
- “13 nutrition lies that made the world fat and sick.” It may not be instantly apparent what this one has to do with resistance to Authoritah — until you consider who promulgated the lies that are being debunked. Yes, what you eat and how you learn about what you eat has changed since gov and agribiz introduced the old pyramid and had it accepted as 1980s gospel.
- Say hello to the NSA via automatic sentence generator. (H/T Ragnar)
- Here’s another non-obvious sign of hope: IBM sales plummet in China. Because NSA is inspiring distrust in all its collaborators, or even suspected collaborators. If US tech companies want to thrive, they’ll have to prove to the world that they aren’t the UberGovernment’s sock puppets.
And now some bonus links.
- “Why I will never, ever go back to the United States.” A bullied traveler explains.
- Mike Vanderboegh at the Alamo.
- This 15-minute video (thanks, MJR) gives a pretty good overview of how 20,000+ spycams are used in one American city — why they’re accepted, how they succeed or fail, and why they’re still feared.

Yeah, the gov really whacked us with the lowfat/high carb diet promotion. Makes for fuzzy brains, and possibly arthritis and diabetes.
We loosely follow Primal Blueprint guidelines, adding a little rice and potatoes once in a while, and dessert is a rare treat, though we do eat very dark chocolate. We’re both relatively healthy in that we don’t catch colds or other viruses going around. If I happen to go off Primal and eat a lot of carbs or sugar, I get indigestion and fall asleep. That’s a good enough reason for me to stay away from that stuff.
I’m sort of ambivalent about Justin Raimondo, but that’s one of his better efforts.
One of the links in Kevin Williamson’s article is to another of his, “The Front Man”. https://www.nationalreview.com/nrd/articles/353797/front-man. Short and right on the money. My favorite line: “He [Obama] is a man with a first-class education and a business-class mind, a sort of inverse autodidact whose intellectual pedigree is an order of magnitude more impressive than his intellect.” Priceless.
Couple of things caught my eye today at Techdirt.
CryptoSeal VPN Goes Dark To Protect Against US Surveillance.
Once you’re there, follow the link to How Experian Sold Consumer Data To Popular ID Theft Service, if that’s of interest. And to think, even years ago when I first started in on it, most people thought I was weird for railing against big data aggregation.
I never bought into all that nutritional nonsense, particularly about eggs. I don’t completely buy into the paleo diet either. My conclusion, after reading all kinds of stuff for years, is to avoid processed foods, added sugar, and carbohydrates. For my purposes, beer is not a processed food, nor is whisky.
I think that the U.S. border agents must now believe that one can become a terrorist by osmosis. Too bad they can’t gain intelligence by the same means, but I think their skulls are too thick.
Ugh, that video about cams in Chicago. How can people put up with that crap? Surrendering personal responsibility for their own security to uniformed thugs sounds like a great idea, eh? Pretty soon they will all be reduced to the condition and status of children.
How can anyone stand to live in a place like that? It boggles the mind.
