I’m still working on that blog post that requires Deep Thought. But with a deadline approaching, a construction project pounding away next door, a guy tearing a derelict bathroom out of my place, and Ava having gone insane from all the people around who won’t throw tennis balls*, Deep Thought is as impossible right now as endorsing Obamacare or v*ting for Michael Bloomberg.
So for now here are some links.
- Here’s one of those news stories that’s no surprise at all to us political
cynicsrealists but is still pretty stunning considering the MSM source: the Obama administration has known all along that the line about being able to keep your current insurance was a lie. Not just the law, but their own fine-print regulations, were turning it impossible. - How Obamacare really works. No words needed.
- I don’t usually promote tourist destinations or articles about them. But OMG, what oblivious (though oh-so-accidentally-astute) fool named The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement”? They could have lowered their sign budget by leaving off the last 17 letters.
- Oh sure. But it’s okay as long as they’re only spying on us little people. Way to go, DiFi. Stick up for members of your power pack. (H/T S)
- These stories about the Army indoctrinating soldiers against their fellow citizens are beginning to get worrisome.
* Ava believes that the sole purpose for strange men in the house or yard is to entertain her. If a burglar ever breaks in, I’m more likely to learn about it from the sound of a tennis ball being persistently dropped at his feet than from, you know, barking.
Smart move, Ava – distract em with a tennis ball until help can arrive.
LOL
It’s been really fun watching O-care implode upon itself. I’m just waiting now to see what the masses decide to do about it and how.
So glad I’m on a semi news fast right now. The O’care debacle and surveillance disaster is infuriating people all around me, while I am striving to remain serene and give my energy to my novel-in-progress that will have a happy ending, for a change.
I love picturing Ava with her ball, inviting play. 🙂
The overwhelming majority of the combat soldiers of the US are from decidedly “red state” backrounds. As the treason of the R party becomes more apparent, a growing number of grunts become defacto libertarians. You can imagine how much use 19-25 year old testosterone generators have for “mandatory lectures” in general, let alone ones that offend them by attacking their core values and those of their culture.
These soldiers did the right things: Kept anon, sought legal help, and through those channels went public. I’d be willing to wager the rest hit the mental “F-off!” Switch (sorry). It is the God given duty and pleasure of NCOs to mutter snide comments and make disdaining facial expressions in these situations.

Ava sounds like my cat. She loves company*, and she’ll try her darndest to pick up the laser pointer and bring it to you. People who invade her house and DON’T PLAY WITH HER are meanies who must be nagged into submission.
*There are 2 people my cat hasn’t liked. Both of them were married to my brother at the time the cat made her judgement (though not at the same time). Both of them turned out to be manipulative control-freaks with all the emotional maturity of spoiled toddlers.
Oh, good.
I forgot that things in carets don’t come across. Let’s try that again – and maybe our kind and benevolent hostess can just delete the post above:
Went to do a wedding one time, outdoors, and was greeted at the fence by a loud barking dog. Not friendly, not angry, just your typical “dog on Red Alert” sort of bark.
After the wedding he brought over a tennis ball and dropped it at my feet.
“No. You barked at me. My feelings are hurt”
*puppy dog eyes*
“I’m sulking. You barked at me like I was Jack the Ripper reborn. No ball.”
*whiiiiiiiiiiine*
“I need a better apology than that.”
*WHIIIIIIINNNNNE* and now he’s in that full “play dog” posture.
“Okay, fine.”
And I spent the next ten minutes throwing the ball for him….. 🙂
Here’s another article on the labeling of citizens as terrorists: http://www.examiner.com/article/another-terrorism-report-demonizes-christian-patriots-preppers
And our open border to the south inevitably will result in real terrorism: http://www.judicialwatch.org/blog/2013/10/mexican-cartels-help-hezbollah-infiltrate-u-s/?goback=.gde_1528217_member_5797297618967089153#!
And this is likely what they plan to do about it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jfRVNwm004&sns=em
Glad I’m not the only one with a non barking, non watch dog. I finally had to install a door bell because I can’t hear when people knock most of the time… and Laddie does not bark when people come.
A friend came the other day and he was teasing me about it. I told him I figured Laddie had decided that ‘security’ was my job. He laughed and said, “Of course! You are the one wearing the gun.”
Actually, Obamacare is a fantastic success: http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2013/10/21/why-obamacare-is-fantastic-success/
JW and Ellendra — Oh man. Thanks for the funnies. Ellendra, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a cat trying to bring people its toys. Could there be a dog somewhere in your cat’s ancestry?
A.G. — What you say makes sense. I admit that when I hear about soldiers being indoctrinated with weird DC propaganda I’m half afraid and half smirking over the silliness.
MamaLiberty — Maybe you should teach Laddie to shoot? LOL.
Shel — Thanks for the links. I’m really not sure Obamacare is designed to have the results Root claims. Maybe, maybe not. I’m definitely fearful it will have those results, and virtually certain it will have the result of pushing the middle class further toward poverty and dependence.
A.G. — Apparently the Army has ordered those trainers to quit bashing Christians. No word available yet on whether they’re still allowed to call Tea Partiers, patriot groups, constitutionalists, and other dissenters “domestic terrorists.” From what I’ve seen so far, this appears to be a religious-liberty ruling and may still leave the rest of us as suspects.
Well, of course we’re all suspects, no matter what one obscure training course does or doesn’t say …
