A friend of mine has the Arrest-proof book. So, I’ve heard a bit more about it than just what’s in that article. Granted, you do not want to find yourself on the inside of that system, no matter how innocent you are.

But, would that advice have helped David Eckert? Well, I wasn’t there to personally witness what transpired, but by accounts I’ve read, no.

The problem isn’t our behavior, it’s the entrenched culture which glorifies the power of the state, and the sort of people attracted to it.

Careful, Claire. That sort of thing will go to my head.

Isn’t it funny how the ex-cop’s advice to avoid being molested by his kind is the same advice given by the appeasers to women to tell them how to avoid being raped? It’s never the aggressor’s fault, but if you get molested it’s because YOU did something to deserve it. Yep. Cops are seen- even by former cops- to be the rapists, even if they don’t put it into those words.

Looks like that first link is broken?

On that thing about police culture, I can definitely relate to the schizophrenic views of police.

I had an engineer friend who decided to become a cop in Hillsboro, Oregon; don’t ask me why. He really was a decent person as far as I can tell. (I let him know that if he ever busted my door down, though, he’d better be ready to die.)

Also, Gene Sharp maintains that rebels of an abusive regime are MUCH better off if they have contacts within the police organizations.

On the other hand, I agree with Clark, the writer of that article. People who join police forces really are like people who join the KKK. There’s no getting around it, police work is evil. It only kinda sorta makes some sense if you happen to believe that any other alternative (like having no cops) is even more evil. But I’m no longer there.

[Yes, by every possible definition he committed one of the largest frauds ever perpetrated. So arrest the man, already!]

This reminds me of that old Stalin quote, that if one man dies it’s a tragedy, but if a million dies it is a statistic. In the warped world of the ruling class, if you are going to commit a crime, it is better to commit a really big one. You are more likely to get away with it.

While the evil deed of an attacker or rapist is indeed the “fault” and responsibility of the aggressor, and is totally responsible for any death or injury to him/herself when we defend ourselves… it is imperative that we exercise rational “situational awareness” and do what we can to avoid putting ourselves into the power of those evil ones in the first place, if at all possible.

Don’t go stupid places, with stupid people and do stupid things… comes to mind. And for the ladies, I suspect there would be fewer rapes if they didn’t indulge themselves in getting drunk/stoned and naked with strangers – and then expect them to be gentlemen.

If we don’t want to be eaten by alligators, we’d probably be wise not to swim in the swamp naked and unarmed.

Oh, and I don’t read or listen to advice from “cops.” Present or former.

I saw that police submission guide article last week, and its haunted me a little ever since. I mean, crying? Defecating? This is the advice an experienced cop gives. This advice seems fitting when given to Jews circa 1938 or to a Soviet farmer in 1932. I have this great disconnect where it seems so few people know or understand or care about the horrors of what has become commonly accepted in US police methodology, but will be reminisced about later once some clarifying event has brought change. More and more, I do seem to see people cringe just a little while denying the reality and claiming “it cant happen to me”.
