The shooter was a left-wing anti-gunner

Or so it appears. The kid who used his “deadly assault shotgun” at school this week in Colorado, Karl Pierson, sneered at the free market and believed that the R-party supported “gun violence.”

“I was wondering to all the neoclassicals and neoliberals, why isn’t the market correcting itself?” he wrote. “If the invisible hand is so strong, shouldn’t it be able to overpower regulations?”

Pierson also appears to mock Republicans on another Facebook post, writing “you republicans are so cute” and posting an image that reads: “The Republican Party: Health Care: Let ’em Die, Climate Change: Let ’em Die, Gun Violence: Let ’em Die, Women’s Rights: Let ’em Die, More War: Let ’em Die. Is this really the side you want to be on?”

But note how the article tries at first to avoid mentioning the particular slant of Pierson’s “very strong beliefs about gun laws and stuff.”

ADDED: It appears that someone originally quoted in the linked article even described Pierson as a “Socialist”. The Post has seen fit to remove that word for some reason. Hm. Maybe they simply corrected a mis-quote. But in that case, standard journalistic procedure would be to note the correction in a note. So perhaps they …. no, no mainstream news source would …

Don’t have the link handy, but from another article:

“On Saturday, his Facebook comments had been wiped from his page.”

The better to paint him as something other than a committed leftist.

Does this mean we should expect a school or other mass shooting every holiday season until Obama leaves office? Why is a violent leftist/socialist treated as a surprise? Historically they have been violent, preferring to use force or threat of violence to get there way when democratic processes fail.

Nope they got it right the first time, no correction required only a little white wash. I heard the audio sound bite on one of the national news feeds durring the 2:30 PM radio news report here in Omaha. The girl said socialist, she also said that he was always wearing tee shirts with communist sayings on them.

Interesting info, Shel. I had no idea. The guy in the video’s quite a bigot himself, which is unfortunate. But I don’t doubt his claims (though I’d also check them out if I were going to repeat them). After all, the very definition of a modern liberal is somebody who wants to force others to do his will at gunpoint.

Unfortunately, that also seems to be the very definition of a modern conservative …

Of course the Invisible Hand *tm* can overpower regulations.

It’s called “the black market,” Sportin’ Life….

You’ll just have to imagine my eyerolling since there are no cute icons here.

Sounds to me like a Dedicated (Good) Socialist decided to try and damage the freedomistas on his way out the door.

And Claire? That’s why “Liberal” and “Conservative” are less meaningful than “statist” and “antistatist.” The Ls and Cs simply have different agendas that they want to force people to accept, at gunpoint if necessary.

Very interesting in accusing “Liberals” of being mentally ill, as the “Liberals” have already accused “Conservatives” and “libertarians” of being mentally ill AND have actually written into their American Psychiatric Manual (I understand) the definition of many of these that would include “everyone else”, as needed.

So, EVERYONE is “sick” as needed. Very useful in controlling people as Stalin found out.

Law Hobbit is correct in the usage of “statist” and “antistatist” as more meaningful terms.
