    Marvelous, Claire… good job.

I’m heartened by the many times the MSM puts these accounts on the air. Granted they’re “local news” for the most part, but it does make the news and We, the People do hear.

    Love it! Linked.

Love it! There are enough people defending themselves and their property that I lose track of the stories. Not that you don’t have enough to do already, but I wonder – why winnow them? Doesn’t this remind you just a little of the old Norse and Greek sagas of the adventures of strong people confronting evil wherever they find it and however it comes to them? What a wonderful format this is to tell the stories of modern people doing what they need to do, and how many of them there are.

    Marvelous! You’re a poet and I didn’t know it. 🙂

    More would be wonderful!

Or a book detailing as many such incidents as possible. The “news” stories are usually very poor, with little (or even wrong) information. Some research and talking to the people involved might make for a lot of very interesting stories.

Doggerel, nay! This be foine poetry here. (Inspired by doggerel, it is.)

Outstanding, Claire. In my bookmarks, this one is going next to the Feens classic A Gun For Everyone. And unlike even that excellent piece, this might actually inspire me to attempt to play and sing at the same time. 😀

    Thank you, guys.

zelda — The Gun Sagas! Yeah. Good idea.

Kevin — If you’re inclined to set it to music and sing it, I bet we’d all love to hear! (I’ll help you reword some of the places it doesn’t scan perfectly; I’ve already spotted a few places I’d like to revise, anyhow.)

BTW, I thought your “classic” Independence Day piece was about the best I’ve ever read on that subject. I was looking around for something to link to on the Fourth and didn’t find another thing that really said it. ‘Course that Joel grabbed it first. He’s like that.

    Totally Off Topic:

Has anyone used, created, bought or sold anything through CafePress? Do you know anything about their policies, quality of products, or price structure? I’ve read their website and it looks good, but am unsure (being the cynic I am) if the website might be better than the real.

    Epic poem! Great job, Claire!

I laughed a lot at the counter jump fail. That was priceless. heh

naturegirl — Yeah, that counter-jump fail is worth watching again and again, isn’t it? Every move those kids make says that all they know about tough guys comes from movies and videos. It’s even better knowing that all their friends have surely seen the jewelry store video now and are laughing their heads off at the fools.

Pat — It’s been a long time, but I used to have a CafePress shop. In my experience, the products were decent quality and it was easy to set up both the shop and the designs. But CafePress’ underlying prices are so high that you can’t mark the items up enough to make much money unless you sell in substantial volume. Somebody else might have experience more current than mine, but I found it legit but not very useful.

Might help if you can be a better promoter than I was.

    Thanks for your input, Claire.

I noticed the prices seemed kind of high for some items. I wondered, too, if there was any opportunity to submit your own creation (rather than create it online), since I’ve already designed it. I didn’t see anything about that.

I’m not the greatest promoter, either. Maybe I’ll look around some more, both online and off.

Jim B. — Oh my, that definitely deserves a verse in The Gun Sagas!

Pat — Glad to be of help. I don’t know if it’s any better, but have you looked at Zazzle?

“I don’t know if it’s any better, but have you looked at Zazzle?”

Yes, I did look at Zazzle, and the same questions arose, but my original look was superficial. Am getting back to it now to dig deeper.

Re: CafePress–I bought a coffee mug from them, it wasn’t cheap ($20 with shipping) but it had an unusual design that I liked. They seem to have an awful lot of stuff on their site.
