  • “I know where your cat has been.” Yes, even your cat pictures aren’t safe from Internet snoopers.
  • It’s time for conservatives to stop defending the police. Actually, it’s way, way, way past time. But the article is still a good beginning. (H/T Sipsey Street)
  • Sometimes early birds are too early. But ohboy do I understand wanting to “pick up the bucket” just to cross it off the to-do list.
  • That was a monster body blow Obamacare took yesterday. Not likely to be fatal, though we can hope.
  • I don’t know who did it or why. But the elaborate white-flag operation atop the Brooklyn Bridge is sure proof that monkeywrenching is alive and well even in the age of omni-surveillance.
  • Oh yes. “Gun control.” It’s always going to be soooooo very effective.
  • Be forewarned, this is slightly NSFW and a little raw for BHM. But funny. Very funny.

Picking up the bucket too early may mean the to-do list is too long; it’s not just about procrastination, but might be about multi-tasking and running in place.

Or it may mean getting the trivial stuff out of the way ― in which case there may be too much trivia in one’s life. And that’s about choosing what’s important, and learning to say No (we’ve had that conversation, right?:-))

Sometimes these studies seem to arrive at pre-conceived conclusions. As I read the article, it never occurred to me to think of _procrastination_ as a reason for picking up the bucket early on.

Re that National Review article – that rather timid and far from radical article – about ceasing to defend abusive cops: Whatever you do, don’t repeat my mistake and read the comments. Just don’t. Nothing changes and nothing is going to change. At least not for the better.

I swear, some people get the government they deserve. The rest of us are just dragged along moaning.

Those homemade shotgun-pistols is the scariest thing I have seen all day.

There’s a whole ‘nother level of “homemade gun.”

Re Cops; This thing goes far beyond cops. Let’s face it. The entife justice system is a mess. From the Attorney General down to the local level. In a way….I can see where the cops get mad, they make an arrest and the prosecuter won’t prosecute if he feels he won’t get a conviction. There is a trial and the convicted gets just a slap on the wrist. Granted, there is a lot of police abuse. Too much abuse imo. When I was a kid, we were taught that the cops were our friend. Today….uh huh…. see how far that goes. Then we have this thing, and I have seen it, where some piddly thing happens and the cop can’t wait to make a federal case out of it. As far as militaryism goes…..I can not see ANY reason why any law enforcement needs military type vehicles or equipment. IF a situation is that bad, just how is it that there was no forewarning of it??? Finally, officer safety…uh..sorry…I cannot see where anyone in their right mind would not realize a situation could become deadly…well…..golly gee….no shit! seems to me if someone is that worried that they shoot dogs they are in the wrong business to begin with. About forty years ago I had a job as a honcho for a security outfit. Invariably I worked alone….all alone….no backup. There were times I had to draw my weapon. Yet, I came through those times uninjured. How? I used my damm head…a thing called brains. Maybe today using one’s brain is no longer in practice?

Curt S — Don’t see too much wrist-slapping these days. Well, except when the criminal is a cop. On the contrary, we’ve got more of a problem with insane overkill sentences + a system that terrifies people into incriminating themselves (plea bargains because if people insist on a trial, the charges will be increased and the prosecutors and cops will testi-lie). I agree, though, the justice system is hopelessly broken — and brains are in short supply.

It soon will dawn on people that tolerating one’s arrest makes no sense. Then the fireworks will start.

It’s long been obvious to me that police are losing support from even conservatives. Go on any gun forum and read. The Nuremberg defense is always brought up in discussions about cops and their encounters. Cops don’t get a free ride any more. “A few bad apples” doesn’t cut it any more.

    Ol Remus:
“National borders are always under control, the only question is by whom, and events are answering that question. We forfeited this essential element of sovereignty by getting wrapped around our own prissy little axle while Mexico and its domestic enablers adapted.”

Ol Remus is no anarchist. What’s this “we” he’s talking about? Did he forget how “we” controlled that area in the first place?

Getting bothered that people reproduce themselves, and move from place to place, seems a pointless exercise to me.

The rest of the article is on target, though.
