The seller and I agreed on a 30% price reduction from what we’d originally established (which is also more than 30% under Kelley Blue Book) + three months of he’ll-fix-anything-that-goes-wrong.
I was getting along just fine on foot and with occasional boosts from neighbors and friends, but I was aware of the many possible ways in which I might not do so fine without making serious impositions on good people.
And besides … I kinda missed Ole Blue. It’s a nice little ride.
Now I only hope I don’t regret this … that it lasts until the Elio comes on the market … and that the Elio turns out at least vaguely to resemble the claims being made for it.
And yes, in the meantime, the Xterra will still get some attention. But no driving until I’m sure it won’t die in the middle of the highway.

Oh, I’m so glad. And you will be too when the monsoons return. 🙂
So, when do we see pictures of that table again? I’m dying to see how you made use of the earrings. 🙂
ML — Yeah, that, too. Supposed to be an El Nino winter, therefore WET (as if it’s ever anything other than wet here in the winter). I wasn’t even thinking of that, but of things like vet emergencies, doctor appointments, hauling even modest loads (beyond the capacity of my granny cart). But yeah, I’ll be glad of a car as soon as the rains come.
Table pix? Getting close now, thanks to your recent send of supplies. Day or two. Your earrings play a small, but central role.
We had a 1990 Geo Prism for six years until my husband got the new car fever. We sold it to friends who got it to the 150,000 mile mark and decided that was probably enough. They “junked” it by way of turning it over to a teenaged boy who finished it off by way of never checking the oil or changing it. It was smoking like crazy when he sideswiped a tree with terminal damage.
Ouch, Mary. That’s too bad… But I wish my Prism could have lived that long. It was exactly five years old and in perfect condition when my youngest son (no teen ager) took it without permission and wrapped it around a tree… He couldn’t understand why I wasn’t completely happy just because he wasn’t injured… I figure he still owes me the $13,000. I lost in the deal.
Yeah, rots of ruck.
I too await the reality of the Elio. If it lives up to the hype it could be a real winner here in the willamette valley.
