Announcement

A quick drive-by for an announcement. Two announcements, really.

Kurt Hofmann is no longer writing for JPFO. They now have no original writers or content for their alerts.

Kurt Hofmann has now taken over my “Enemy at the Gates” column for S.W.A.T. magazine and his first article should appear later this month.

If you want to conclude that these two happenings are related, feel free.

Kurt is a terrific, up-and-coming gun-rights writer whose military experience makes him perfectly suited to S.W.A.T.. He does great work with great conviction. (Here’s a recent sample.) Heck of a nice guy, too. So yay, Kurt! And yay, Rich and Denny for taking Kurt on and for putting up with me all these years.

Ouch! Gottlieb & Co. is going to feel that one.

Kurt Hoffman’s writing is one of the few things (possibly the only thing) that kept people linking to the JPFO site.

Now that he’s gone, there’s no linky love — and by extension, no ad views, no “membership” sales, and no revenue.

Congrats to Kurt for landing the new gig!

And congrats to Gottlieb; the last vestiges of the old JPFO have been wiped away, and you are now the ruler of the rubble. Long live the emperor. 😉

YAY Kurt!!! Happy days. Is Kurt going to write for TZP too?

And yes… I’m on my way to delete poor dead JPFO from my blogroll. sigh

Ah – the Cheshire cat comes out of hiding!

But it’s a shame that JPFO and Gottlieb are linked at all; the acronym should be altered somewhat to fit the criminal – TPFO (Turncoat for the Prevention of Firearm Ownership).

I wondered how long he’d hang in there.

    Congratulations Claire!

    Sounds like a four fer’

You get relieved of a monthly deadline (which I will miss but I’m sure you will not).

    SWAT gets another fine writer.

    Kurt gets a broader audience.

AND Gottlieb gets kicked in the balls (which since he doesn’t seem to have any, will probably not seem important to him).

    Win, Win all around.

A special thanks to SWAT for “Enemy at the Gate”. Yes, I will keep buying/reading it but mostly, only for that column.

And Claire, THANK YOU for all the Fine articles!! Well Done, thy good and faithful friend of Freedom!

Hats off to Kurt for giving Gottlieb the fair shot he didn’t deserve, and best wishes for his future success!

I hope it was your choice to leave S.W.A.T. Magazine. Your articles there were the reason I looked around and found this blog.

Shel — Yes, it was my choice. I’ve loved working with Rich and Denny, but I wanted Kurt to have something better than he had and I thought “Enemy” could use a fresh voice.

I’ve heard from people who subscribed to SWAT only because I had a column there, but this is the first time anybody’s told me they came here after first reading me there.

LOL, Tahn, on the “fourfer.” So exactly right.

Amen, Archer. It still amazes me that the New! Improved! JPFO didn’t even make a token effort to look serious. I wasn’t surprised that Gottlieb didn’t replace the three writers who quit at the time of the sellout or David Codrea when he left after being censored. But I thought he’d at least make a gesture toward making JPFO look as if it were still alive.

Namely, I figured the first order of business after the acquisition would be to transform JPFO’s hopelessly clunky 20th-century website into something more attractive and user-friendly.

But not even that. Almost a full year now and all they’ve managed to do is put out one Bill of Rights Sentinel while bleeding writers. Ah well. They got the mailing list and of course that’s what really mattered. I’m just surprised Gottlieb is so willing to be so blatant, so naked, in confirming our worst suspicions.

I also found your blog after reading your column in S.W.A.T.! Very disappointed when I didn’t see your byline this month, but I’ll definitely give Kurt the benefit of the doubt on your rec!
