In response to some pants-wetting coward who sees every gun-rights advocate* as a threat to him and of course his children.

* Specifically those sporting NRA stickers. Ha! Little does he know those are only a modest few of the actual gun-bearing population.
Thanks for the link Claire! That was great!
I have now added The Liberty Zone to my daily reading and forwarded the column to my daughter and grand daughters.
I love strong, articulate, armed women, beginning with you. May the Good Lord bless you all.
And this NRA sticker thing is, of course, just a small part of the whole PC nonsense – people claiming a “right” to dictate how others act and what they say based on their own interpretation or feelings.
From my article” Not My Problem – http://www.thepriceofliberty.org/?p=5108
Seems to me that responsibility for “feelings” has to be handed back to the people who actually own it.
So, on the rare occasion when someone tells me that the sight of the gun on my hip “offends” them, or makes them “uncomfortable,” my reply – in the softest, kindest tone I can manage is: “That’s not my problem. I am not responsible for how you feel. “
Little does he know those are only a modest few of the actual gun-bearing population.
Little does he know how many people think of the NRA as a bunch of compromising pansies.
What really gives me pause is the fact that is raising two boys. As much as a cowering bowl of protoplasm that he is, I have real concerns about how his boys are ever going to able to function in the real world when they have to go out in it.
What must it be like, to look at everybody in the world and demand they be disarmed as a potential homicidal maniac?
That’s got to corrode the soul.
And the kicker is, the asswipe switched his post to private viewings, which I find very interesting. Guy can’t hack real world criticism.
This was excellent! Thank you for finding it and sharing it – as I shall do momentarily.
Thanks, Claire. I’ve posted my own reaction here: http://www.wendymcelroy.com/news.php?extend.6654
Good one, Brad. I had forgotten those passages from El Neil. Spot on. I wonder how many others he influenced so powerfully.
The absurd thing is, the guy is driving a car, seemingly unaware that that, too, can be a deadly weapon if he were “to snap.”
I thought about writing a parody of his blog, substituting “AAA” for “NRA” and “vehicular deaths” for “gun deaths”, but it was both too easy and too heavy-handed. And I’d rather focus on the positive, anyway. I only met L. Neil once, at an SF con, and I wish I had taken the opportunity then to tell him what an influence his writing had.

You can, Brad! He’d be just over the moon to hear from any of his fans, especially now. He’s recovering from open heart surgery now… just a few months after coming home from rehab after a stroke. He keeps getting knocked down, but he won’t stay down. 🙂 And a dose of encouragement from folks who find his writing inspirational would be a big boost for him.
lneil@netzero.com – this is the email address posted on his articles at The Libertarian Enterprise – http://www.ncc-1776.org/ (site not loading today, for some reason, but I’m sure it will be up soon.)
Duh! Good idea. Done. And I hope he’s getting well.
